Yeah I find I liked the alts that fit the truck better if I'm gonna go through the hassle. The other ones have pulleys that line up properly with the right amount of ribs too. Mike's would have been a lot easier without the coil bucket placebos in place, but honestly the failure rate of these GM alts is enough to make me steer clear even if they were plug and play.

This is true if you don't drill out the hole, same could be said of the suzuki one too.

How are the ribs off? There are 2 different pulley on the GM alts which makes it all the more complicated.

I do find it odd how many I've seen fail. Frankenstein still has the first one I put in him and it's never failed(has turned in years I know but still) was surpised Mikes failed twice really. His first one was after I'd done mine. :notsure: Gamble for any reman alt though IMO.

Ah, so just a drill and bam you're good. Cool. Might try one of those for mine.

Well you have to have the pulley with the 1/4" spacer built in to have any line up right, but ebven then Mike's belts visually are out of alignment (and you've heard the noise it makes) and there's no more ribs to shift to (GM uses 6 rib and we use 4). It was designed for another vehicle entirely so I mean no real surprise, it works well enough on our stuff if you're not concerned with the occasional squeaking and throwing a belt.

You started a trend too, got everyone to check the condition of their brushes.

No sir, can't say that I do. I did order a custom alt from Singer alternators once for someone's car build I was finishing wiring and they did an excellent job. They take the stock alt for whatever vehicle and rewind the case and rotor for extra output.

I drive 500 miles a week..pretty long commute for work. If I can make it until either our house is built OR the 400k mile mark I'll park it and get something else.

Sold my 18 f150 to get out of debt and got this little truck to drive and so far it has been wonderful. I work at a ford dealer but really wanting a slightly used camry to commute with when it comes time and keep the tacoma for yard/hunting duties.

most of these rewound high amp alts i've seen dont put out the advertised amps until fairly high engine rpm.

the only ones i've seen put out serious amperage are from DC power. but they dont tend to last long on my buddies cars that run them

I don't have a single bro light or a winch so I really have no need for it I just thought if they actually worked as advertised it could be a good option for lots of others around here. I also wondered if they would fail at a similar rate as the GM's

There's also Denso tractor models that are similar that I haven't looked into but heard about. I'm not running a winch yet on the 4Runner so I haven't a need for one atm.
