That's just how it is now. Basically have to suck it up, or wait until it goes up even more >.> The good days of cheap ammo are gone.

Been lurking and jealous of all your posts, but I finally have my own to add. Picked up my Christmas gift to myself.

Sorry for the lighting, the image doesn't show the gold trigger very well. I think it's a beauty!

Dealer is also a range, so I was able to put about 250 rounds through it right away. It's so smooth and ate everything I threw at it, without any failures. Even the junk my rifle is normally picky about. Great accuracy and easy to operate. I'm as pleased as I could be and can't wait to practice more. Many plans for this... I guess these are as fun to mod as our Tacomas with the aftermarket support!

I suppose it's all relative depending how long you've been in the game, but at least in my tenure I've never seen such a drastic increase in prices in such a short period of time, and it's only going to get worse, especially with new policies blocking importation of Russian ammo.

Current wholesale prices are close to last years MSRP.

Where? I travel quite a bit and have regularly been to stores in Arizona, Nevada, Florida, Texas, etc. and most are still either sold out, slim pickings, gouging the same obscene prices as ever, or all of the above. Online isn't much better.

I travel a ton as well and ammo is all out of stock and/or priced through the roof everywhere I've seen as far as brick and mortar.

Looking at wholesale dealer pricing at the distributors, I have an FFL.

Seriously, and I'm spending time in places like Reno, Vegas, Mesa, Jacksonville, etc. Not saying it isn't possible, but if these places don't have good stocks of ammo, I have a hard time believing anywhere else in the country is much better.

Well then start ordering ammo to sell to us, because every other FFL is either out of stock or charging out the wazoo!

Things come in stock in waves right now and the cheaper brands of high demand calibers/type (eg. 9mm FMJ) are still continually out of stock. In stock for a day or two then sold out again for the next 4 to 6 weeks. This is orders of magnitude better than it was a few months back when stock would not even hit inventory, it was spoken for the second it got off the truck.

Most of the ammo prices are retailers trying to keep store shelves stocked as there definitely still is a shortage. However Ive seen some of the local places drop their prices about 15% from the high point earlier last year.

Im an FFL holder but I am not a gun store, the FFL is a function of my business.

Also just trying to emphasize that the price jump is permanent, wholesale vs MSRP is about %20. That is a big jump in 1 year.

I'm on the same page with you now. Apparently I'm dyslexic and swapped wholesale with MSRP. My apologies.

Yes I agree, the price jump is insane, and once prices go up they don't usually come back down. When it comes to buying ammo, there's no time like the present.

    Agreed.
You can’t shut a country down for 2 years, blow money into it and expect there to not be consequences. We are about to see what those consequences are. It’s not just ammo, it’s a fair amount of things, but on the subject I’m curious where around the 20% 2022 expected inflation increase ends up being for the ammo market.

Once existing contracts are fulfilled and the Russian ammo ban really sets in, I'd imagine it's going to get much, much worse considering Russian ammo accounts for roughly 40% of American ammo sales. I've already been to several stores that flat-out say they can't get any 7.62x39mm right now.

The stores around here that have stock on the shelves are selling at about 120% of what prices were pre panic. For example 9mm is going for ~600 per 1k rds. At the peak, the same store was selling it for close to $800 per, the price has just recently come down in the last couple months.

But they have also removed purchase limits on ammo which they had before at their highest prices. Things are coming down but they will never be back to what they were.

I had a Mark II 22/45 for about 20 years. Only cleaned it 3 or 4 times and it never gave me any problems. I would occasionally take a q-tip and clean around the receiver/chamber.
