Toyota should inform people on their “build” site that when you “build” a vehicle it is only to give you an mrsp price and that you will not be able to “order” that vehicle, you can only tell your dealer what you want and wait for one allocated with the majority of what you desire.

Thanks, @TacoTRDTom ! That actually does help - it leads me to believe that the fact I can't *Build & Price* yet on the Toyota site doesn't necessarily mean that elusive TRD Pro isn't around... just rare. :D

Put the deposit down yesterday on an MGM TRD OR 4x4 M/T with Premium/Advanced Tech/LED. This was at Servco Toyota in Hawaii (Windward), which isn't actually part of Toyota USA; not sure how that will affect the allocation process or my wait. I'm assuming that it is similar to the mainland. No timeframe given yet, but they estimate a May/June 2022 delivery. Gives me plenty of time to take all of the aftermarket shit off of my 2017 A/T...

Price agreed upon was MSRP, no markup. Pretty stoked to be going back to an MGM and also an M/T! I'll update timelines in here as I get them.

Awesome if they stick to no mark up MSRP. My dealership flat told me that since other dealerships were marking up from MSRP, that they were at least "adding value" in the form of the basic upgrades to justify the markup. Sigh. Door protectors, a pin stripe, mud guards - something like that.

I called around, they were indeed the only ones trying to add a value - and their markup was less as well. :annoyed:

Have you tried to build a Trail by building an SR5 and then as you get further through you add the Trail as a “package”? That’s what worked first in Salt Lake City, and now they are showing up on dealer lots, and the Pro is showing up in the pipeline as of this week. It’s worth a try to see if you can get one through as I think we are in the same region. Drop me a private message if you want me to walk you through it and see if it “sticks”. :)

I just tried this for NJ and it worked. Chose SR5 DCSB 4x4 and Trail Edition shows up in the packages. Nice find!

Agreed on the *nice find* for Trail Edition (those options are there in my area as well). I was expecting it to be a totally separate trim level given the marketing around it. I'm on the forever long waiting list for a TRD Pro still (6+months now, I think I timed it all wrong as I thought I would get a 2021 before they swapped over to 2022). Oh well, really just hoping to have it for next spring/summer/fall...so stacking gear like most others.

    Brand new.

    Thank you for that information,
I have 3 orders in at 3 different dealerships two of the same model and equipment choices and one of an entire different brand. They all told me they would give me my deposits back if i cancel. especially the dealership i have three cars from right now in the family. They want out business, so hopefully they are doing their best and getting the special order i placed. god willing if they can't i walk away. and life goes on.

I put down a deposit November 24thish and was told 3 months. I was told they probably won't charge my card, and they haven't. I went in yesterday to follow up as it's been radio silence and I was worried since they said they wouldn't run my card. I ordered a 22 OR DCSB in Lunar rock with the premium tech option. The GM told me they would find out about allocations today, 10 requests for that truck and 5 available (didn't tell me over what size area those numbers are from.) Told me to call back today to follow up. Fingers crossed. My 2017 was totaled so as of now we have 1 car, and if it goes 2 more months like they're expecting I'll probably need to rent a car until it comes in. I'm in the Tampa Bay Area, ordered at Clearwater Toyota at MSRP. They had me sign off with tint and floor mats added. Supposed to get a $1k discount for friends and family but at this point I'm not sure.

That's the same thing the dealership here pushed on me. I threatened to go elsewhere over it, which at least got them to reduce the "added value" price to under $1,000. For my money I got about $20 worth of spray-on detailing products applied, the promise of free paintless dent repair, and an IOU for an extra $1,500 credit if I trade it in at the same dealership someday.

I'd be MAD if a dealership painted pinstripes on my new vehicle.

I'm at MSRP but they said they put $120 wheel locks on every can they sell since they have theft problems, so $499 dealer handling and $120 wheel locks over MSRP for me. I have sent 4 or 5 people to this guy in the past 3 years and we bought our 17' from him so hoping I can negotiate some of that when it gets here at the end of the month.

Yeah, I declined the pin stripe and they offered a ceramic clear coat. Until my allocation request is accepted by Toyota, I'm not going to bother committing to any dealer/port options.

So what is a port option on these now, used to be port meant on the ship over from Japan but these are being built in Mexico? I have 2 port options on my build sheet, all weather floor liners/door sill protector and DK Owners portfolio, does port simply mean dealer installed now?

From the small amount of research I've done trying figure out how Tacomas get where - this is where (i believe) the port goodies get added:

Southeast Toyota (sea arrival from Jville port?) - Google Map

Another Toyota stopoff near Commerce, GA - Google Map

Gulf States Toyota (rail arrival from Baja/TX?) - Google Map

Veracruz port for the new Guanajuato plant (for east coast to Jacksonville) - Google Map

It's a long journey for these new trucks [from Guanajuato] - Hauler/Train/Ship/Train/Hauler...

I don't know much about Toyota logistics, but their network is pretty impressive.

I agree with technoalchemist. Anything they can just throw in, or quickly built on is probably installed at the port. Things like the TRD lift, TRD wheel package, are more than likely dealer installed.
