Ok, so I'm trying to losse weight and I have lost some (what parents and friends say). I guess I have noticed it a little also but still have plenty more to losse. I started at about 200lbs, that was in February. That was also that last time I weighed my-self, so I don't have a clue to what I am now (hopefully less). I am 5'9" tall.

So I am looking at some options that could possibly help me lose more. My friend and I are going to do P90X in this coming up summer, but would like to losse more before than. I just read about this Acai berry things on here: http://www.online6health.com/HEALTH/Acai-Berry/index.php. I was wondering is this an alright way of doing it? Anyone have experiences with this stuff?

How I have lost weight (I have been told) is eating less, so lees calorie intake, and more exercise (walking to class as now I'm in college and I walk to class from my dorm multiple times a week). I think it has been working but no proof because I haven't been on a scale since February. But I did have to buy size 33 jeans in a regular fit from my size 34 in a relaxed fit.

Also is there anything you folks could recommend to me to help with my goal of reaching 160lbs?

Eat healthy, more exercise, more sleep, only drink water and fruit juice, and do as much cardio as possible. And you won't hit 160lbs. You'll be so happy with yourself at 170, plus the added muscle weight you won't/don't need to drop 40 lbs.

Attitude is a huge part of it, you can work out, eat healthy and still gain weight or stay where you are due to the stress and poor physical outlook due by a poor attitude.

Enjoy life, have fun. Eat smaller meals, less fast food, more veggies. Get smaller bowls, you'll notice your portions go down. Drink more water, most times when you're hungry, you're actually only thirsty -- your body has a hard time telling the difference unless you're starving and/or drinking salt water. ;-)

You're in school, go get with women, or find one you can have a lot of activity with.

In 8 months, without really trying, I went from 230 down to 188, and am still losing. You'll want to increase your metabolism, so drink a few whey protein shakes a day, that'll start to get it working while you walk off the calories. Also, if you really want to lose it and build muscle, find a CrossFit gym near you, half an hour a day, it'll go away real fast.

Ya I forgot to add that I stopped drinking soda since school started, before I drank diet Dr.pepper when I drank soda which was about once a day.

My school has a gym, but I have no one to workout with. I have been trying to find people but no luck yet.

Also thinking about getting a bike (either bring the one from home or get a cheapy from toys r us since I get a discount), because I have a friend the goes mountain biking alot here.

Where do I get the whey protein? And what do I do whith it to make it a shake?

I'm not to concerned about mussel gain until I hit the P90X in the summer, so I would be mad if I didn't gain any until then. My goal is without any mussel gain. But I would be mad if I did gain some.

I'll tell you what I like to others. Exercise regularly and not try to focus on losing weight. That will come down the road as you continue to exercise. Do cardio for at least thirty minutes a day. Heart rate has to be at least 150 to start losing. Play sports and if you already doing that then do more, play harder. Just focus on being more active. Be a little more healthier on food but don't go all crazy. Try different exercises and see what work for you. Everyone lose weight differently. Good luck!!

When you say cardio, which exercises do you recommend?

Edit: this question goes for anyone.

Insanity is also pretty good, and its just body weight, plus its only 40-60 min 6 days a week. Hard as shit when you first start, but gets easier once you get in better shape. Its made by the P90X people.

I went from 225 to 180 in about 4 months or so. I started eating smaller meals and cut out alot of the crap, no soda or fast food and really limited the beer intake. Make sure to drink plenty of water, dont drink less to make you lighter when you weigh yourself. I wasn't drinking enough when I was losing weight and ended up gettin a kidney stone. I also run alot now too. Averaging at least 20 miles a week, with my first marathon coming Sunday.

P90x is a good start. They have many different videos to choose from. But jogging, running, biking, hiking, tae Bo, sex...whatever gets your heart rate moving. Try to get at least 30 minutes in for the day. If you can't get to thirty minutes yet just try a little harder each day but not to the point your going to start throwing up. LoL....Also have some type of food that has some sugar in it an hour Or two before the work out. Sugar provide energy to burn. I used to workout 6 days a week for six months then I just gradually reduce it to every other day. I got to where I wanted to be so I am just maintaining. Just don't focusing too much on losing weight. Just exercise regularly and the weight will start to shed off. I hope that gives you some idea. Like I said, everyone loses weight differently.

like everyone else said, just get out there and be active. you can get exercise without actually having to workout pretty easy. biking, hiking, swimming. just find somethin that you like to do. one thing that will really kick your ass into shape and help lose weight is get a cheapo backpack from walmart and fill it with survival stuff such as warm clothes, lighter, compass etc. then go out to national forest and jump off the trail and just go bustin through the woods. try to climb over ridges or if there is snow find some deer tracks and try to find the deer by followin them. keeps it interesting. i consider myself to be in pretty good shape (can run 10+ miles and 100 pushups w/o stopping, 22 dead hang pullups) and when i do this squirrel huntin in the winter i get my ass handed to me

+++ above comments on portion size.

People don't realize how much they put on their plates, or how much restaurants put on plates for them. Don't feel compelled to finish meals, and if you're serving yourself, put less on your plate. You will probably find you consume less and don't miss it. After all, you can brag about eating salads all the time, but if they're ginormous and covered with calorie-heavy toppings, you probably would have been better with the burger.

Cut out as much processed food as you can. This may be a little tough, being in college (after all, processed carbs were my staple items in college - didn't have the $$ for fresh or the place or know-how to cook), but consider the items you're buying and what you're putting in your body.

Also, ditto above on not fixating on the actual pounds, but on feeling fit and good about yourself. If your goal is only losing the pounds you might yo-yo later. If your goal is to make healthy choices and *feel* healthy, then you're setting good habits for life and you'll probably be more stable over time.

You might try learning to cook tasty, healthy meals. It would most likely impress the ladies. :)

You mean burn the excess calories that your body doesn't actually need to operate? Because if the OP burns more than he's taking in he'll be on a starvation diet. :D

Well on a day to day basis... You need to have a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. But your statement is in fact correct

EAT LESS, cut back sugar intake, salt intake, drink water, exercise.

eat multiple small meals throughout the day. Don't eat a big dinner. I usually just eat a snack for dinner most nights just to give me stomach something to digest.

I have a background in professional sports and had a nutritionist for 5 years who managed my food and workout regimens. What I can suggest from all that training to maximize your loss.....

False Eat less and you will loose weight : Many people think that you will but only for short periods of time. You body consumes muscle before fat so if you work out and dont eat enough protein and nutrients you will get skinny but it will just be the loss of muscle.... that leads to problem 2

Problem 2 - loss of muscle If you loose muscle mass you body will burn less calories because muscle requires calories. So if you consume 2K calories a day but loose muscle, now you only can consume 1500 calories and you are more likely to stop loosing fat and actually start gaining. This is why people tend to loose weight for a few weeks then suddenly stop and pudge out again.

Real Diet Advice ( simple ) Ok here is your diet simplified and realistic so you can actually stick to it....

Carbs Dont eat more than 40G in a single serving and dont eat carbs after 3 pm.

Meals 4 A day at the minimum, if your not hungry eat your 4th meal just before you fall asleep, something like some trail mix or peanut butter.

Eating before bed If you eat a small amount of food mostly protein and healthy fats before bed you will loose even more weight faster. Why? Your body starves when its sleeping for 8+ hours. So if you eat just before you keep you metabolism burning through the night. Keep it to less than 250 calories and between 15-30 grams of protein, likea teaspoon of penutbutter and some yogurt or cottage cheese. At first its kinda odd but after a good 2 to 3 weeks you will wake up feeling better, sleeping better, and really hungry lol.

Cheat but dont feel bad A real goal is better than bs. If you set a goal to loose weight but at a real rate, then you will be better at it. Dont try and drop 30 lbs in a month lol. As a fighter we could drop 30+ lbs in a day but it was water and horrible for your body. You want to stay within 10 lbs of your ideal weight, dont get alarmed if you go up or down.

I messed up.... If you have a bad meal, make sure you do 10 minutes of cardio ( THE FOLLOWING DAY ) for 2 - 3 days on top of your usual routine... this will burn most of the bad stuff off and help you feel better.

Watch your weight goals, and dont expect too much. If you can keep it off thats better than achieving a goal and then loosing it a few months later.

any questions let me know. I have tons of info and have no problem answering them for you.
