MESO Total Tail Light Kit

I get hyper flash in the turn + reverse combination, and it "latches" resulting in turn signal hyper flash until I put it in gear and drive on. I have the OEM LED headlights and fog lights. I will install the resistors and see how that affects the whole configuration, hopefully all hyperflash is avoided.

Thanks for the feedback! Just to clarify since I haven't had a chance to work on mine again yet, did it fix the reverse + turn situation without affecting any other operation? I live in the city and parallel park often so it is important to me for everything to function normally without exception.

 

Will not affect any other functions. Resistor all just Fix the hyperflash(whether it’s hyperflash during normal signal or in reverse)

 

I read in a different thread that too much load/resistance was causing issues with turn signals in the OEM LED headlamp assembly. I haven't had time to swap mine out yet, but am prepared to remove the MESO load resistors in my tails if I experience a problem with the OEM LED turns in the front.

 

Usually if a customer has already installed resistors(be it front or rear) and then ADD mine, it overloads the system. But 1 set should be good to go.

 

Do you know if the OEM LED headlamp assembly has a built-in resistor? If it does, maybe that's why the extra one on the tail is too much?

Based on my truck that came with OEM LED headlights and fogs, no new issue after adding the resistor to address the hyper flash while in reverse and turn signal is on with TTL S1. Furthermore, I also added MESO V5 switchback mirror turn signals a couple of months ago and all works well together.

Edit: forgot to mention they are OEM LED headlights and fogs.

 

My truck came with halogen headlights/turns and I'm swapping out the full assembly to the OEM LED. I would have to think there's something different somewhere in the truck between the OEM halogen assembly and the OEM LED assembly - otherwise, why would a stock truck with OEM LED not hyper-flash? Does that make sense? No need to answer, just thinking out loud. I'll know soon enough, once I get the install done.

 

You’re overthinking it. Simply - Halogen has a standard incandescent signal bulb. LED has electronics to handle the sequencing signal.

 

I get all that. And yes, I'm overthinking it. And yes, I've hijacked this thread, sorry. But the whole reason for the resistor is because the turn LED doesn't create the same load as the halogen turn. That's why I assumed the OEM LED assembly must have a load resistor built-in, but MESO says no.

 

I just ordered a set of the V5 turns, should I remove the resistors I added with my total tails?

I know the etiquette about searching the thread, which I've done my best, but still couldn't get a straight forward answer. I'm looking to add the Total Tail Stage 1 to my stock 2017 TRD Off-road tail lights. My question is, will I need the load resistor? There is mixed info about some people experiencing the hyper flash and some do not. Thank you.

 

Won't hurt to have them. Seems the common hyperflash is reverse with blinker. For most, no worries, but if that is something you may be concerned with, resistors will eliminate that worry.

 

Appreciate the response. I don't think that would be a big concern for me. I can't imagine I would be in reverse and have my turn signal on that often if ever.
