It’s a road machine we got in 2019. I used it for swift and it was cool, I couldn’t get into it though. My gf used it for trainer road and would just watch Netflix or listen to music while she was getting in the exercise. She upgraded to a Wahoo for training.

I remember my first time mounting/dismounting cushcores. Talk about a chore. I wanted to use my dirt bike tire irons so bad.

the trick is just dropping the bead down into the rim center.
once I figured that out, it was a lot easier. But obvi still more involved than a regular setup without inserts

    not enough.
yeah. there's a little trick to them. Still tough though.

That's why I prefer my tannus armour though. MUCH easier to install. Provides just enough benefit. :)

First piece of new bike build shown up. Second box and final box for bike build is expected end of month beginning of next month. Hopefully enough time for good healing of finger.

I cannot get another this cheap. The only reason it’s this cheap is because they couldn’t show a markdown on the bikes MSRP I bought with it. The website has since been corrected to not discount bikes.

Totally. Only difference is how much sidewall support you get.

Here’s the thing, you’re not gonna wanna take it off Trailside anyway. Just ride or walk it out. That happened to me ONCE. And yes, I did wear it around my neck. o_O
That’s why I got rid of em. The only ones that make any real difference SUCK to take on/off. Even with the cushcore rim dropper tool. I just went double down (or equivalent) and called it good.
If I were running AL rims though, I’d probably just run them and ride it out gently. Actually considering getting them for the Decoy (eMTB).

i carry a tube with me all the time. been caught too many times (probably like 3 times since i started riding in 2015) miles from my vehicle and had to walk out. but with the cushcore in my rear, ill ride it flat for sure. big reason i got it. deff a different ride, makes me feel like im riding on ice on the rear, kinda adds some excitement.

no cushcore in the front though.

and you can give some other forgetful rider a tube (ive given away plenty of tubes over the years). its not like im racing and need to shave that weight. theres usually a beer in my hip pack too so :militarypress:

I hate Cushcore, and I hope in 5 years we'll all agree that it was a well-marketed gimmick. Last summer at Trestle one of my buddies (running Cushcore) knocked a tire off its bead. Try as we might, we couldn't get it to seat back on the rim with a CO2 cartridge (x6). We finally took the Cushcore out, set him up with a tube since he lost most of his sealant when we peeled out the Cushcore, and he rode down with the Cushcore over his shoulder like a bandolier. Later on at the base, we dumped 2 oz of Stan's in the tire without the Cushcore and seated it back on the rim on the first try.

The best part was, as we were sitting in the dirt burning half a dozen CO2's in vain to get his tire to seat with the Cushcore insert inside, somebody rode by and shouted, "You should try Cushcore!"

I have a press fit that I cannot use - figure I would ask here before I send it back.

I actually had to first learn how to take it out on the trail when I got a flat.
Was able to ride on it for a little bit, but slow as hell cause I didn't wanna destroy my carbon rim.

Threw a tube in it, then slung the cushcore on my pack

    I typically run 20-22psi rear, 18psi front

For sure. I have always had a tube onboard..and have def coughed it up to a fellow rider more times than using it myself. Even had a few that had holes in them from crashing haha

Never had inserts before. Probably wouldn't have bought them but I won them on a giveaway on the gram. (https://mynesweepers.com/) ... I figured they were gunna suit my new wheels better than on the wall in the garage.

Still scared to drop the pressure down low, keeping them around 28 psi. Haven't really played with it much as its been so soft around here with all the rain we've had. Already feels like we are riding with 3 flats.

side note... super stoked on new wheel set

Who ever said money can't buy happiness... that's false...

I have cushcore's and I think they make sense for places with sharp rocks and mostly DH where you may lower PSI.

This talk has made me look up wheel builder brands thoughts on the matter.

If you run your pressure that high I'd argue that you're only wasting time adding inserts.

Unless you're fairly prone to damaging rims of course.
