The tech doing my frame replacement showed me my new frame, in the parking lot, the day I dropped off my truck. He told me before I asked....dont worry about the scratches and dings. They all get sprayed before we put you back together. Three years later and 3 applications of PFC....still perfect.
Hit em with some black rustoleum......thats all you need.

No worries and it doesn't hurt to ask. That new frame is in great condition and paint got scratched just moving it around during shipping and install-it is not damaged. It's nearly impossible to avoid. In the scope of the effort needed to complete this job, this is very minor.

OP.....you need to take the truck back to the dealer. Demand a new truck because of the botched up frame and the time in the shop. If they don't offer you the top of the line Tacoma, then be sure to threaten them with lawsuit, your lawyer, the BBB, picket lines.....etc while invoking the Karen screaming and temper tantrum. I'm sure satisfaction will be forthcoming.

Seriously, spray those minor spots with a rust converter product then follow with a bit of mat black spray paint.

Looks to be normal freight damage. I certainly wouldn't bother with such trivia considering I just got a new frame.........at no cost.

Heh try shipping 2000 tons of fabricated structural steel to the big island. While also trying to hit an aggressive construction schedule. And that was before COVID & all the associated shipping/production issues nowadays.

We very quickly learned to no longer quote work in Hawaii

yea youll get more rust spots after going down a dirt road. Honestly I would just hit it with a rust inhibitor and call it good.

Exactly what I was thinking. One trip down a gravel road would make the frame look the same.

There is a BIG difference between surface rust and frame rot. If I were you OP I'd take the dealer up on their offer to have a body shop touch up the spots and get on with your life without thinking twice about it. Nothing to worry about there.

If they hadn't offered to touch it up I'd just crawl under with a can of rustoleum and squirt it black.

the way they ship the frames is by stacking them on top of each other, there is gonna be some damage but overall just needs a little paint and will be good to go.
