    This. Perhaps start talking to the insurance now, when the body shop finishes your truck, take it directly to Toyota and have them inspect everything before accepting the vehicle back.

    That' not a bad idea, I'll see how much the stealership wants to charge...

    See if you can buy that frame. There are folks in the rust belt who would kill for a frame that nice and would pay to have it straightened.

    @bloggerstomper , sorry you’re in this situation.

    Your ‘06 wouldn’t happen to have a 4.0 with the original head gasket design that’s prone to failure? If I remember correctly, the changeover date is sometime in November 2015.

    Add me to the list of folks shocked the insurance company went ahead with the replacement.

    What’s the estimate date of completion?

    Good Luck!

    I honestly wouldn't know, but so far it hasn't failed so fingers crossed!!
    And the estimate date of completion has been "in two weeks" for the past month, so we will see!

    That's definitely pretty mangled, but am I missing something or could they not have simply taken out those two rivets and put on a new hanger?

    That's what I thought, but they said that toyota doesn't sell that bracket, it comes attached to the frame

    I've seen different storage unit sizes for $50-200/mo but that cost may not be worth it and IDK if it would fit

    Rollin' hydrocarbons!
    When you get it back call a vehicle appraiser. Have them appraise the vehicle post-repair and then ask the insurance company for diminished value. The appraiser will be a few hundred bucks, but the diminished value claim could get you a few thousand back. Any accident I've been involved in that wasn't my fault I've done this. Last time I was cut a check for $5k. It's something a lot of folks don't know about and the insurance companies would like to keep it that way.

    Thank you for that! I already have a claim in the works, just waiting for the repairs to be completed (if that ever happens)

    This strikes me as funny (‘cause it’s true) because I had repairs done at a really good local body shop after being rear ended and, sure enough, they missed the connector for the tag lights after replacing the bumper and tailgate.

    Finally got the truck back!
    Just a minor problem now, they lost a bunch of impact drivers, a part of my bed rack, didn’t transfer the gas from the old tank to the new one, and the reverse lights don’t work, so yay!
