    So I'm welding a bunch of bench frames; letting my longer joints/welds cool down I decided to run a bead super fast on some scrap

    20220105_161816.jpg

    I'm genuinely surprised at myself even at how I intentionally half-assed this weld and it looks really good, not to mention penetration all the way around.

    @treyus30

    No go on the aluminum welding.

    I don't have enough extra scrap to dial it in or figure it out. It's a whole different animal with this gun :bananadead:

    I'll try my hand at using a spool gun once I get one.

    My welds are the bottom ones, as T joints -

    20220105_160002.jpg

    This is the outer edge, more like a butt joint since there is no open corner. My welds are the bottom ones again -

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    Clean your alum before welding with a stainless brush that has never been used on ferrous metal, always have an aluminum specific brush. All the black is impurities, start slow and dwell for a moment before ending with alum. You started cold, takes a second to make alum take heat, it dissipates super fast.

    Yes sir, I did just that; cleaned it as best as I could with a new wire wheel. It's a spare one separate from my stainless steel one.

    The black only appeared after I welded.

    And what I wasn't expecting was the pre-flow before any actual welding when I'd hit the trigger.

    I think instead of learning on a machine I've never messed with, I'll learn in class :anonymous:

    @Speedytech7

    Only setting I messed with was this -

    20220105_165222.jpg

    Realistically I should've looked up voltage settings too as I didn't mess with that at all nor did I look up to see what this setting is for -

    Bad reception in the shop.

    It sure made a cool sound when it came out haha. That oval shaped hole had a cap on it that was sealed. I'm sure the heat from the fire created a lot of pressure until it finally found its weak spot and popped the cap. It was a very interesting moment I was glad my back was turned but I really wish I could have seen it. Next time I'll drill a hole in the drum first

    Only reason I’d consider the red Ron is cause the cab doesn’t look bad in the pictures, but it might be crunched too
