:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals! So, 30* for the low, sunny and nice today. Get some blood work, and errand, and go from there.

So, 2022 is "Revenge of the Small Parts"?

I suppose, if that's what's powering the house, I probably won't care a whole lot!!

    surprised it doesn’t have a hobb’s.
I went to HF to pick up a winch ( which said they had 6 and couldn’t find 1).
And looked at them. The 9000 inverter quiet is a biggie. Not something you want to roll around
    In the snow.

Cleaned up after the snow yesterday. Ordered the parts for the snow blowers which should be here Friday. It will be a busy weekend.

Today is grocery shopping, a quick trip to HD, and guitar lesson. Going to be cold today so dress warmly. Everyone have a great day.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Peoples! Today is rear shock do over day. Have all the biscuits and such - insulate that top adapter, and make the bottom "normal" even though there's nothing wrong with what I did. I'll take some more rubber over what they provided. Any luck, new jack stands arrive and I won't have to use the 4x4s for height. Have to clean up the area where the stereo will be replaced. Anything else is gravy. Should be in the 70*'s for all this too!

:laughing: Oh HECK no! I even have the big wheels, and it's barely something you want to roll around the driveway. Sooner or later, I will have moved all the existing rock garden where it will go, on the back corner of the house. It will live on a slab, with a little house of it's own. I think I have all year to accomplish that, based on what I see for our weather.

This handy little biscuit cane early, yesterday.

    So, did I fix it?

Short answer.... aw, you know I can't do the short answer.

I was right about the source of the problem. Square peg...

    round hole.

And nothing to prevent metal on metal speaking out about it. Although the passenger side was still so tight, it took a breaker bar and hammer to loosen the top nut, the whole assembly could be rotated once the weight of the truck was off it. (not a movie - imagine no resistance between the two shots)

So, off they both came (takes me far longer to mess with the wheels than anything), and both got the same treatment. My cut up metal bushings (provided w/shocks) and the shims came out of the bottom, replaced with the metal bushing in the rubber insulator I begged Down South for. On the top, I had to drill out the new shock washer (9/16" biggest I could find), and a little of the biscuit. Then the top would either get another biscuit, or a thick neoprene rubber washer (or 3) under the washer and nut.

And, I reversed the adapter bolt on the passenger side from what I had.

    And now, there is some insulation on the shock tower to the mount;

The shoulder of the adapter has the nice bushings that came with it
    [IMG]

And even though the bolt doesn't show through - it IS in the nylon of the nylock nut.

And the bottom on both sides, looks a lot more like what I thought it should like.

And it's all back together and on the ground again.

So, the round the block test drive over all those noisy bumps and holes? Noise is all gone. Bearing noise is all gone. A longer test drive is upcoming so I can actually enjoy the new ride!

And now that the part is on the way, the stupid Heater Blend Door Actuator is working correctly again!!!!
    :annoyed:

I'm on a roll (sesame) today. Replacement amp came first thing this morning when I went to work. I stuck with the little boom box and the phone until I was done with the truck. This died....

and this little guy replaced it, and even let me clean a shelf, move the old Chromebook up where I can see the screen. And I don't even get loud enough to see the cute little power LEDs' work!

Old man gets the Oldies Loud in the garage again!

Enjoyed your shock re-do, good job. I don't put many miles on my tacoma (2002) about 600 miles last year. It has about 68000 as of this note. Don't do a lot of my own work anymore (wish I could) will be 81 in april and have slowed a mite. I still enjoy a ride when weather is good and can afford some gas at these prices. I notice you are a texas boy, me too born Dallas, lived in East Texas. Don't know that I could enjoy the humidity and heat like I used to. Keep up the good work.

Thank you sir! I get a lot of help from friends. The rears were "accidentally" a DIY. Some things I can do, some things I can but know better!

And welcome to the thread. Lots of good folks here!

I still have my 4 jack stands. Back in the day I would raise the entire vehicle to rotate the tires. My back say you can no longer do that type of work, lifting a tire, but I still have them.

Today is assessing the damage to the canopy top frame and ordering the parts I need. I need to put the small Toro CCR 3000 snow blower back together in case it snows tonight. Carburetor should be here tomorrow; this is just in case we need it. I unstuck the throttle shaft, but the card is about 25 years old and never touched. I need to invest in a decent small parts cleaner.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchies! Chilly today, with a front coming through, and another harder freeze tonight. Get to take a little test drive around town for some errands, and I think I'm going to mow when I get back. Everything's kind of shaggy.

"Just one more thing" under the truck, suspension wise, and I should be good. I need to drop the sway bar mounts to put a RivNut in one of the frame mounts, where the factory nut came un-welded during the front repair. I ordered some bushings since it will be off anyway. CAN'T be that hard,......right?

Here is the link to the little amp Greg. You can ignore the review that says it won't work in a garage. Now I do have old house stereo speakers in there, with a 10" and some mid and tweets, but it powers the heck out of them. Plenty of punch for the price. I'm going to try to pair the phone with the BlueTooth today, and if that works, I will give it a glowing review. Can't beat it for less than $50! I got these for the higher lift - so I wouldn't have to use the 4x4 under my old ones. The tires are what takes me the longest when I have to work under there. I can barely lift them, and rely on a 1x4 on a 2x4 as a lever to pop them up! Next time, lighter wheels and tires~!!

Good luck on the canopy fix - would not want you unable to cook!
