Heat is back on… sharing because I didn’t think of it so maybe it’ll help someone else in the future.

Our heater has a condenser pump. The condenser pump was hooked to the same GFI that our sump pump was hooked too (both in crawl space). The sump pump went bad over vacation and tripped the GFI, which also cut electricity to the condenser pump. The heater has a safety mechanism that kills it power if the condenser pump isn’t working. Unplug (or repair) the sump pump, reset GFI and restart the heater to find out I should’ve called a plumber not a HVAC tech … at least I have power and heat!

Hope the misfortunate ones have gotten power back if not… we have a spare bedroom/heat/electricity in Locust Grove.

I know it is code to have the sump pump on a GFI circuit… I don’t understand why… the GFI is supposed to protect a person from getting electrocuted… I get it… but a GFI on a sump pump protects the pump? Anyone know a plumber to stick their hand into the water around a failed sump pump with out unplugging it? GFI’s go bad and a good sump pump then becomes inop. Then your basement gets water damage because the failed GFI was protecting the good sump pump.
Glad your power is back on.

Not a plumber... but I do know a fella that was trouble shooting his heater and figured he'd "check" the pump/float while he was in the crawl space. Only later to have learned what a GFI was and that the pump was bad. :anonymous:
I can confidently say that code exists because of "that guy".

Was the GFI bad too? … great news… you know that guy! I hope he is ok. Was he a Marine? Prior USMC life, as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer, I truly believe that could happen. Thanks brother.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I have those in the amber fogs and have no regrets. The fogs have a nice cutoff and wide beam. No hassle from oncoming traffic.

I typically run fogs either for visibility for others and/or myself in bad weather or at night.

I tend to run them like DRL's. Sometimes at night, I forget that the headlights aren't on, that's how well they work.

Not the prettiest, but I think they'll hold alright. definitely cramped down there, so it was some good in position practice. took me all day to do just 1 side, and of course, tomorrow is expecting snow again ugh

For the other side, round off the top of each plate. It makes getting the torch in there 100x easier.

Its amazing out there, but yes winter time expect lots of snowy/ icy roads.
I went to school out there, fortunately everyone is good about driving in bad conditions. And as long as you have decent tires and some weight in the bed of the truck you'll be fine.
They also tend to use a crushed gravel/ sand mix instead of salt so the roads stay covered longer but you get real good traction.
