Nope you swap out the main switch and then add the remote in the location you need it the biggest pain in the ass is cutting the 2x4 box in the wall.... Works like a charm with out running wires!

Excellent. I think I found a guy who does tile about the same speed as me. You are probably faster doh.

    Looks great!

thank you! I think it took 8 or 9 minutes of cutting. 3/8 porcelain. I was mad at the one little slip up at the bottom, but will get escutcheon you will never see it

A few years ago I had a "professional" remove the plaster guard from the valve. Then tile right up to the valve stem. Idiot.

Yes it is. We can't even find a "journeyman" carpenter that knows how to read a tape yet alone make a straight cut with a skil saw. It's insane.

I was referring to the general wall outlets and lighting circuits. I understand several kitchen and HVAC circuits require heavier gauge wire. I did not see any area of his pics that looked like a kitchen area, but then I could have been mistaken

When taking down the old side splash, the liquid nails took drywall with it. Best way to repair? Joint compound and re-texture? Any tape required? New vanity will not have side splash.

After much testing, Lutron Caseta is by far the best wireless switch solution for many reasons starting with 100.00% reliability and 10-yr battery life in the remotes that can be wall-mounted to look like a regular box-mounted switch with the mounting kit. Plus you can tie remotes directly to switches so no hub is required and wireless range is as good as it gets.

But if you want, you can get the Caseta Pro hub that is fully controllable by telnet for complex home automation. I have 4 hubs of various brand, over 50 wireless switches, and over 30 motion and contact sensors all linked and by far Lutron Caseta is the clear winner for reliability, range, and options to integrate in grander home automation if you go that way.

For reference the best controller to tie into the Caseta Pro hub is Hubitat, which controls motion activated lighting, yard lighting, sprinklers, send notifications to phone, etc. Hubitat stays on the local network so it does not the latency if Smart Things hub and is the clear winner for do-it-all control.

You should be able to just patch that with compound. It may crack going that thick though, so a couple/few thinner layers might be best.

Yeah, I would joint compound over those. It will crack when it dries because of the depth, but just sand (120 or 220 grit) and re apply and you should be good. I wouldn't bother with a hopper gun for texture. Just pick up some Homax wall texture in a can. Turn it all the way to fat or wide open and use circular motions. You can use a piece of cardboard to catch the seagull drops, and a putty knife to scrape it flat when it dries. I'd also recommend mixing hot mud yourself as opposed to the ready mixed joint compound unless you've got several hours to wait for it to dry.

thanks fellas! I just left the store and picked up a box of the ready mix compound. I have a little time to wait, not a huge deal there. And got a spray can of texture.

I've used them, or tried at least. They'll only work with thin material. First the drill has to finish the hole, then the tap part does its job. I bought them because I thought they'd work to drill into 2" bar stock and tap at the same time. Nope.

I’ve used them with mostly positive results. Like jsi said thin material only, lube it, slow it down when it starts to cut threads.

Over the holidays I spent some time researching new hollow core interior doors to spruce up my condo. I was looking for a 2 panel "shaker" style sort of. Welp I guess I hadn't paid attention to the price of doors for a few years. I figured less than $100 per door, wrong by half. Best I can find is $172 and it's a slab I'd have to hang myself. $200 more (total of $375) for pre-hung. Are you kidding me?!
