Which is why my little gas guzzler is gonna crack 300K miles before I even have to consider a major engine overhaul!

The Tacoma 3.5 also uses a plastic water neck on the back of the heads and seem to leak, the Lexus version has an aluminum part back there instead which makes more sense.

Can I take it for a psin sometime after the swap? Are you going to retain the A/C?

Also, I once again pondering selling my Tacoma, but it's replacement would be another Tacoma; Specifically, it would be a 2018-2022 SR5 Access Cab with the 2.7L and 4WD. If it's a 2020-2021, I would consider the SR with the SX package; A base with the utility package that deletes the rear seats is also incredibly tempting because I stick a couple of 12-inch subwoofers back there!

Intermittent wipers finally became standards across the board for the 2020 model year; Is installing intermittent wipers in a 3rd Gen as easy as it is in a 2nd Gen? My truck didn't come with intermittent wipers, but I put that feature in...

I'm not only old; I'm old school. I save enough cash then buy what I want. Didn't finance shit. I hate banks. Fooking usurers.

I'm 32 and don't have the savings to pay cash for a new truck even if I sell my current truck; When I'm your age, sure, but I am also saving up for a house.

And have you had any issues with the 3.5L in your truck; I've heard stories...

My current truck obviously has the 2.7L and the only thing it's ever needed outside of oil changes and new spark plugs is an $8.50 PCV valve; I would rather a slightly underpowered engine that's gonna last another 143K miles like my current truck, then have an engine that's gonna have premature unseen issues!

No issues to date. Great truck.

Glad you got that Ford shit out of your system.

Right now, the problem is that the truck I want doesn't seem to exist in my area; I want an access cab because I want the larger bed and I think the DCLB is too long. Also, I'd rather have a 2.7L SX than a 3.5L SR because the former would be cheaper; I want to save money on this truck, and if that means getting the less powerful engine, so be it...

You may recall that when you solicited opinions re the possibility of buying a Maverick, I suggested buying a SR 2.7 instead. Agree 100% about the access cab & 6' bed. I wouldn't get a DCLB; I would have & actually wanted a Tundra but garage space & MPG dissuaded me. If you can't find what you want in eastern PA you might expand your search. Maybe in your uncle's neck of the woods. You'd be wise to seek his counsel. And that of your dad.

I don't get that tightness in my chest when thinking of replacing my Tacoma with another Tacoma that came with thinking of replacing it with a Maverick. I like my uncle's 2017 TRD Sport, and he gave me right of first refusal when he decides to sell it, but his is 2WD. If somebody just gave me a 2016+ 2WD Taco, I would take it, but my dad already bought me one Tacoma and while he's willing to co-sign on a new one to be sure I get the best interest rate I'm probably footing the bill for my next truck...

I want cruise control, though I refuse to go through the headache of having it installed in a truck that didn't previously have it, AGAIN! Also, you should turn on your A/C a few times a year just to keep the system exercised; I've heard of rubber fittings rotting out due to long periods of non-use. If you ever decide to sell your truck and the A/C doesn't work, that'll be a problem...
