It only manifests itself when parallel parking. In that scenario the hyperflash is kind of a good thing. Mine does hyperflash in reverse with blinker and I have no intention of buying resistors to 'fix' it.

 

I live in the city and parallel park often so it's quite annoying, I want the truck to feel fully stock.

The hyper flash goes away once you've driven forward a few blocks. That's assuming you have the OEM LED headlights, otherwise it sounds like you do need the resistor no matter what. I got the resistors when I ordered and will install them if it warms up this weekend. I don't want any hyper flash in any situation, even just parallel parking, but that's just me.

Not being a jerk but I always find it amusing when I see posts like this and most of the time the answer is in the past 2 or 3 pages

 

In my 2021 with OEM LED head and fogs the load resistor fixed the hyper flash while in reverse with the turn signals on, and did not affect any other function. Every combination functions like stock now, nice! Thanks @MESO!

 

I got the hyper flash issue on just one side.. I’ll check the wiring tomorrow.

I was gonna buy the resistors on the website but it looks like they don’t have free shipping like the kit did. I wish I would’ve just ordered them together.

I just check (2021 TRD OR 4x2) and I have hyper flashing while in reverse but normal flashing at all other times. I eventually plan to add the OEM Pro headlights; is it a big deal that I have hyper flashing in reverse? Will I need them for the headlights upgrade? Will they cause issues with the upgrade?

You'll never notice the hyperflash unless you're parallel parking, and perhaps not even all the time. I just went out to check if the turn signal being on before going into reverse made a difference in the behavior and now mine doesn't hyperflash at all (it did before in that situation). It's likely not something you need to worry about. If it ends up bugging you, the fix is like $25. There's no need to stress about it conflicting with upcoming upgrades. It's gonna be fine.

My truck just developed hyper flash on the passenger side turn signal only. I'm also getting flash on both sides with flashers on in reverse. When I initially checked for flash I didn't have the truck running, no flash with truck off.

Why would I get flash on one side only?

Ordered the resistors.

 

Weird. The resistance level must be just on the edge of tripping the hyperflash. Like, within manufacturer tolerance margin of error. So close that normally trivial things, like temperature or electricity draw from other components, or the alternator being engaged or not, can cause the voltage to change just enough to change the amperage on the circuit and jump just to the other side of that limit. I'll keep an ear out for this in the future. If I run into it, I get the resistors as well.

 

I had hyper-flash on the drivers side only. One load resistor, fixed.

 

Got the resistors in and installed one on the side that had hyper flashing. This fixed the hyper flashing on that side but then the hyper flashing moved to the other side. I installed the other side and all us well now. Love how much brighter the brake lights and flasher are now.

 

I had hyper flash on my passenger side all the time but when I was in reverse both sides would hyper flash so I put both resistors in. Works perfect, like OEM now.

Last week it started. The right directional would flash quickly if I was on the brakes THEN turned on the right directional. Nothing affected the left signal. I also had the hyper flash in reverse (had to test it, ands it did it).

I ordered the load balance resistors and all is well. Resistor install took all of 3 minutes.

 

Yeah I think they should just increase the price of the base kit and include the resistors lol. Seems like a lot of people need it. Would be interesting to see a poll though.

 

A lot of people also upgrade their mirror lights, and if you look closely at the product page for them there is a resistor built into them already. If a customer has already done that getting another set of resistors doesn't make sense. Eh, just buy what you find out you need. Shipping is only a couple bucks and only takes a few days. It'll be ok

 

Now that I have a second Taco.... Gotta start hunting for the quality mod parts again. Patiently (but not patiently) waiting for the Stage 1 kit to be back in stock lol
