I just got my official screw you from Toyota..... looks like this may be my last Toyota! I have been refused on all fronts in getting my peeling issue fixed, 2 dealerships, 2 direct calls to Toyota care which will now be known to me as Toyota don't care, and the local Toyota rep...BASTARDS! I took it to a body shop and was given an estimate of $5,000 to fix it! I can't let it go because the Ecoat will eventually rust through creating a worse mess. Not sure what to do now!

I have the same issue with my 2015 Tacoma. I bought it brand new and the super white 0040 paint continues to peel. *key word= peeling!* I called corporate in 2021 and they told me the next step was to go to a dealership and have them check to see the cause of it. Sure enough, they told me it was their paint job they did incorrectly on many cars in this color. The girl there told me to make sure I indicate it is peeling not chipping because that is the correct verbiage for this "warranty program" started for certain cars that were past their normal warrenty. She told me to give corporate a call after that appointment to avoid paying the $3k for the tiny peeling that had begun. They told me "calls like this help expand this warranty program for more cars, but as of now we cannot pay it. You have to pay it and continue to if it peels more if you want it fixed" It is now January 2022 and the peeling continues to show up in new places!! Keep calling 800-331-4331 , keep emailing that is what I am going to do- if still not luck, I'll probably pay for it unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Toyota approved the repairs on my 15. Filed a claim with Toyota corporate, got an estimate from a Toyota collision shop ($6100) and then played the waiting game to hear back. I started having peeling on the doors, fenders, roof and hood. According to the service advisor the low mileage (65K) and being the original likely played a part in the approval. Took several weeks to shops being back logged but I didn't spend a dime. They deemed it a good faith repair so no loaner was provided.
It's still crazy to me that this hasn't been deemed a full recall.

I'm glad they did because it would've been been a few grand whether a respray or wrap.

Thanks. Mustang is under constant construction. 20211219_110127.jpg

Can you tell that your truck has been repainted?

Did they remove the front windshield and rear glass?

I hate when people pull the "well it's out of warranty card" We all get that but there is no reason why factory paint should fail on any car or truck that is under 10 years old.

Toyota is screwing people. How many people can afford to drop a 5k + paint job unexpectedly?

Many white 3rd gens are having this issue too. Toyota is denying people right outside their 3- year warranty. Paint failing on a 3 year old truck is absolute BS.

The doors, fenders, hood and cab have definitely been repainted. I think they did mask around the windshield instead of removing it though.

Wasn't your full truck paint job like $500?

Did you just keep pestering them? I filed a complaint about a year ago. My 2015, now with 102k miles, started peeling around 75k miles in 2019. I called corporate and they basically said its not covered because its out of the warranty range. Squeaky wheel gets the grease but every day it makes me lose faith. I have peeling on the engine bay, 2 exterior doors and one interior door along with dull paint throughout. Whenever I wash the roof I wipe off a layer of paint when drying. My 1998 4runner's with anthracite metallic paint lasted longer than this super white and that was terrible paint.

Literally one call to Toyota corporate, a trip to the dealer and collision center. I definitely got lucky. It's serious bs that people are jumping through hoops and still being denied.

We had a 2015 rav4 blizz white with a similar paint peeling issues. They sent out a mail about it and a fix wasn't available yet. They said they'd reimburse if it was repaired by a shop or to wait for a fix. We sold the car so never did the repair or had to deal with the issue. Sucks yours isn't covered. I'd certainly think it's part of the campaign. Ours wasn't even that bad.

I emailed corporate the other night again and they basically said my complaint was already documented last April and if I want to fix it myself, its on me but IF they ever issue an SSC they will consider reimbursing it. Realistically the whole truck needs to be repainted in the next few years. Washed the truck again today and tree sap stained the faded hood and I had to use compound to get the yellow out of the paint. I don't even have a realistic idea about how much a quality paint job, engine bay included, for a DCLB would be. Definitely know I wouldn't want it to be a single stage job like OEM again though. Love the 2nd gen but should've just traded it in for the 2021 I priced out before the chip shortage. I know if I was going to spend 20k+ on a truck, paint peeling in the engine bay would have been a major red flag. Their denial of the issue is only hurting us reselling in the future and potentially being future customers again. They're lucky they're reliable because that is all they have going for them at this point.

Well at this point my E coat is starting to rust! I got nowhere with Toyota Corporate or the multiple dealerships that I approached. I got a recent estimate of $4,000 to half ass repair it, and that's painting less than half of the truck. Painting the roof, the hood, the upper half of the 4 doors, and clearing everything from the bed forward, no bumper, no fender flares, and only clearing the bottom half of the doors.

I continue to have to rub out both of my rear doors as the paint sucks so bad that reflections off of the side mirrors are fading the paint in big blotches. Everyone that sees it can't believe it and has never seen anything like it. I try to keep my mirrors folded in while the truck is parked.

At some point I have to do something or the body will just go to shit. I'm afraid that this will be an on going issue until the whole thing is repainted. I'm not sure how a few of you have gotten yours repainted... and good for you! I hope that I'm as lucky someday.

Wife's 2017 Carolla , blizzard white pearl began to chip off . Car only had 14000 miles on it , but it was 3 months out of the 3 year warranty. It took alot of phone calls and emails , but they finally agreed to paint it. Good luck.
