Just going to compile this here. Further research and due diligence by the community will be needed to verify that the parts even work.

I keep coming across threads with pieces of information here and there, but never a thread specifically for the topic.

On that note, this thread may ignite the curiosity of those who really want something like this to happen for themselves.

I will compile that which I have recently searched.

For the record, I would like to see this become a viable modification.

    I found this from @gearcruncher

Quote, "Took me a while to find the explanation when we had issues with the 2nd gen truck but here it is

The reason for no dipstick is that the car builders want you to believe that you don’t need to check or maintain the fluid. Many of them actually say that the fluid they use is good for the life of the vehicle. This ofcourse is simply not true

This was the explanation Toyota used when they started installing the 5 speed automatics without a dipstick in the tundras and Tacomas . I am sure someone will eventually find the same information for the 2016 model AC60 transmission

Page 18 of this PDF explains this http://www.toyotatundraforum.com/pdf/A750E.pdf

They say the overflow plug is more accurate . I think I could probably have a good argument with Toyota about this . At least with a fill tube , it gets checked on a regular basis

Here is the research that Old School took the time out to look into

I think I found the dipstick solution!

    From the FJ forum:

    http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...n-aids/142540-dipstick-a750-series-trans.html

Re: Dipstick for A750 series trans?

    Here's a picture of a 4Runner Pan:

You would need to get the dipstick tube which inserts into the stub in the pan and the dipstick itself. The pan would be easy to buy from a parts supplier like Slauson transmission parts in LA and the dipstick and tube can be bought from Toyota parts. You could buy the pan new too but it would be expensive and you would just be cutting it up anyway so just get a used one.

    Attached Images

Good ideas and info, along the lines of what I was considering.... but it looks like Toyota beat us to it. For one or two years, the 2003 Land Cruiser came with the A750F.... and a dipstick! In 04 Toyota went to the WS fluid and no dipstick. So we might have a bolt in solution for about $150.

Looks like the older model pans do fit!"

So my question is, if the parts in the links in post #3 do not fit without a clearance issue, then what needs to be done?

Can a tube just be welded on in the proper location?

I like this idea and am going to try this but first,
I’m missing something trying to follow this, what are the clearance issues

Im going to take a wild guess and say the tube hits the front driveshaft and/or the trans tunnel

Don't know of any. Might not have any on a 2wd.

Might have a clearance issue with the header. Maybe clearance issue with a URD equal length header. No clue until parts are in place to be tested.

The tranny doesn’t burn transmission fluid to the point it periodically needs to be checked and replaced which makes this a not very practical mod. Simply learning how to do the tranny temp. check is free and fast.
Go through the learning process and master the procedure. Don’t give up and say it’s to hard, cause it’s not.

Dipstick very useful for a visual on the condition of fluid, also very helpful should you have a pinhole leak in a line such as I had while plowing. Couldn’t make repair right away and needed truck. I would of been able to add fluid until I could repair also would not have needed to have truck towed I could of driven to shop

Can you imagine the problems a majority of people would have if they could add tranny fluid to there transmission because they interpreted there own dip stick and ran up to Walmart to get some more.

No different than someone checking their engine oil level. You have to use your brain.

This thread is about trying to solve a "problem." Not to debated the hypotheticals of those who don't have mechanical sense.

Why do people mod? For whatever reasons they choose. This is the foundation of forums. To share that "whatever" knowledge. This is what fuels aftermarkets. Solutions to concepts.

I'm inclined to agree with @spitdog on just using the factory check method, but currently I am running an aftermarket skid plate that protects my transmission and cats, so it wouldn't hurt to have a dip stick to check the fluid color once in a while. The skid plate is so dang big and heavy that dropping it is a 1 hour ordeal.

If I had an automatic, I would have tested this theory, concept, years ago. I do not however. So I can only start a thread, or help a person that is close enough and wants to test some stuff out.

Being that I can weld, welding a tube on, could be a possibility as well. A tube w/dipstick are a lot cheaper than a whole pan.

A resourceful individual may be able to find parts on eBay or other.

I’m intrigued. If I didn’t have a full skid package under my truck I wouldn’t have as much of a reason to be interested but between that and the amount of wheeling I do that involves water crossings, it would be very nice to have the ability to quickly check the level/condition of the trans fluid. Otherwise it’s a whole ordeal…

I am a man with common sense
I have a problem if I can’t easily check vital fluids
Dipsticks worked since the model T came out
2015WhiteOR - As stated in my case where I had a pinhole leak and I was plowing snow if I had a method to EASILY add fluid it would of been a tremendous benefit

You just need to fix the problem, keep adding fluid is not the solution.I just don’t see drilling a hole in the tranny when checking it the normal way is easy
