    I think they claim 100,000 miles, but check it regularly.

    i think it might be like "extended life" oil. even though it's still good as a coolant for a long time it's still gonna fill up with crap.

    yeah its pink... i noticed that its gone down maybe an inch since i got the truck. i put Prestone coolant to fill it up.

    It's on 02. I bought it 7 months ago with 57-something on it. It was driven off the lot new about 40 miles from here, and it's stayed in this area since. Geico kinda freaked when they heard such low mileage for a 6.5 year old truck. Pretty sure they factored that into my rates.

    I use good old Prestone 50/50 premix. I drain and flush about every 30K anyways. Not on this truck yet but on my previous vehicles.

    I use what the factory recomends. I have seen some problems with different coolant run in some engines (mostly Ford powerstrokes), and I feel comfortable with the stuff that is recomended by Toyota.

    the reason why I dont use a 50/50 mix is because, years ago, I was talking about different types of engine blocks and casting, and the subject of coolant came up. I was talking with an engineer at Caterpillar, and a friend of mine (also an engineer), and the Cat guy metioned that a 50/50 mix in an all aluminum engine can cause problems down the road. He went on to say that the coolant needed to have some sort of addative in it. Inside an engine, the shock waves from combustion move VERY fast thru an engine block. These shock waves can break down coolants. 50/50 water Glycol mix seem to be more suseptable to being broken down, and causing damage to coolant passeges in the block of an aluminum engine. Hernameislucy has nothing to worry about, as his block is Cast Iron. The second gens, however, may be prone to some damage from not useing the recomended coolant. NOW, I have not tested anything like this, and have only read limited findings on this, BUT, it seemed credible enough in which I dont want to stray from the factory fill coolant. Replaceing the block would be more $$$ than I am willing to spend on a test. :eek:
