    Atta boy… between the “x”s.

I remember when Full Cycle in Boulder was hit. They had a lot of really, really nice bikes stolen. My buddy’s shop in Denver was hit the same way. He sent my pics of the front window, where they drove clear into the shop.
At least the shops are covered by insurance. Most of the individuals who were effected were not.

I am also a between the X’s tire mounter. When they swapped the tires on my Spire the shop must have had two guys mounting them. Front tire, between the x’s, back tire across from the Maxxis logo. My OCD is telling me to remount the rear tire, while my laziness says, “nah it’s fine”.

Lol. you won't notice it on the trail. but if you don't ride a feature, totally blame it on the wrong mounting. hahah.

Reminds me of the time someone told me I mounted the tire backwards. Me: No, it's right, the lettering is facing the right way! Them: "yeah it does...it...wait...what?"

Now I always look for the little arrow. I'm clearly not sensitive enough to tell the difference.

Funny, I line it up with the recommended PSI, as I was taught when I worked in a shop in high school.

Former northerner here, now in GA.

The issue I see is that a light dusting often ends up as a layer of black ice underneath the snow.

Typical winter temps stay a good bit above freezing so the roads/ground have a lot of latent heat. Winter storm comes in, air temp drops, first snow hits the pavement and melts. If the air temp stays low enough and/or there's enough snow falling, the wet roads freeze end up as sheets of ice.

Contrast to places where the temperatures stay lower and the ground is often already well below freezing before the winter storm.

Not to say the natives here are particularly adept at navigating slick roads, just pointing out that a snow event here is often very different than what folks in the north are used to seeing.

I moved to N GA not too long before that. Lived several places prior including Midwest snowy places. You’re spot on. Add to that there’s no equipment to address it when it does happen cuz it’s so rare and lots of people who don’t ever think about their tires because it’s generally sunny and dry so who cares if my tread is gone?? And it makes for a dicey situation.

One of the best decisions I ever made was to work from home that fateful day. Actually headed in but turned around when it got a little heavy. Co workers slept under their desks, yuck.

Why? It’s not like you go off the reccd pressures. Besides, most just show the max pressures.
The only thing those bright ass yellow MAXXIS logos do is help you find the stem quickly. It’s funny, but I actually use that quite often when topping off air.

Bit late but first ride of the year.

Just curious, how many miles did everyone here ride last year?
