    Thank you all!

No, not this piece. But we did do that for MIG welding following the AWS instruction; was optional and only 3 of us did it.

This practical application consists of running different types of welds all on joined pieces so if you fuck one up, it'll stay with the rest of your work

Lap joint, T joint, open corner, and hot passes over a root pass so a little bit of everything in one large setting.

The end piece where the lap joint is placed is actually 1/8" on top of 3/8" so you've got thick on thin being a factor as well.

I use brown with o-rings at work. Blue at home to further flex on my annoying roommate who can’t even type as a sophomore in college.

They used to teach that in school but I guess I was the last generation that learned cursive, reading an analog clock, and how to type.

    Back in my day...

(I'm not sure how old you are, but it sounds like we're about the same age)

I was taught cursive in elementary school, maybe 1st - 4th grade or thereabouts. Told it would be necessary to use in college. Right around 3rd grade though we started learning typing as well, by 6th grade cursive was no longer taught or required.

I don't begrudge folks for not learning penmanship anymore, but I do wonder what will happen to the last few decades' worth of handwritten notes, records, maintenance logs, etc. People just won't be able to read those?

I’m 23 lol. Just makes me feel old when my roommate can’t read the cursive on incoming mail, hunts and pecks for his college papers, and uses all this slang that I can’t even begin to understand.

Yeah it will probably take a "penmanship expert" lol.

I can still read cursive well but writing it takes me a long time, defeats the purpose...though if I did it regularly I could probably get quick at it again

Ah I've got about 10 years over you then. I didn't realize cursive held out another decade. Neat.

I think cursive and print writing take about the same for me. Both slow. Sometimes I slip between the two without thinking about it. I don't write often.

My writing style is hybrid when I'm in a rush and I have to write for more than a minute. I can still write cursive but I don't see the need. Half those reading it don't understand it anyways. Writing will be like ancient Samarian text once digital speak takes over. Eventually there will be a larger international language digitally. If there isn't a digital translation implant.

I wore my old Carhartt hooded jacket the other day and was pretty bummed to see that it’s finally starting to die the death :(

That thing got me through some cold ass days as an electrician and framer back in the day. Thankfully, I did a bunch of other dumb shit back then, but none of the things in that meme :D

I have one but don't wear it anymore now that I don't do construction. It's purposely too short so it didn't interfere with my tool bag. Looks dumb wearing it without tools.

The new thing is those carhartt wool/fleece lined vests that people wear over a flannel or whatever, but I only see fat fucks wearing them so it just looks like some sort of gut support garment.

    Sad day.

I love their jackets, but mine was ridden hard and put away wet for years. It’s had a good life.

Strangely enough, I’ve never owned one of the Carhartt beanies that seem so ubiquitous these days. But I also have a shit ton of old beanies from my dirtbag snowboarder days.

I stopped buying the carhartt pants because the sizing is unpredictable with them. Maybe the tolerances are weird or something, but I'm a size 32 waist with every other pants maker and a size who the fuck knows with carhartt cause they all fit different.
