Color change paint on a Tacoma would definitely work. I have used the brand of spray paint in the pic and it is awesome. You have to have layer of black gloss right below it for full effect. From one angle the paint looks a bit like Spruce Mica and changes to copper as the angle changes. It's the only color the company offers that I feel actually works and looks good. Both colors are Tacoma-like and both look awesome. Same for all the color changes in-between. If someone could ever find this paint for Auto application I would jump at the chance to repaint my Tacoma.

The color change paint on cars was somewhat popular ~20 years ago but that fad died off quickly. Not sure if any of the major auto paint mfgrs make it anymore, but it was insanely expensive at the time.

My little brother sent this article to me this morning and it had a video attached. The paint doesn’t change with angles, it completely changes colors. I think it’s fake. I’ll pass but if it is real I can see people spending a premium to have a different color paint on demand. Be interesting to see how title and registration works with a color changing car.

It's not paint. It's more of a wrap with power.

I've often lost track of what day of the week it is over the past 2 years during the pandemic. The best thing about threads like these is they remind me the day of the week is Friday...

Agree it's definitely a real thing at that auto show. Just has nothing to do with 2nd Gens like half the other threads popping up lately.

On that note I'm off to yell at clouds and tell kids to get off my lawn. /s

I saw a slightly charred white X1 that had a small electrical fire under the hood. That was extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher. Which looked exactly like the finish on this car.

Color changing paint? I wonder how hard it would be to do a touch up if damaged.
