Heated seats and Wet Okole seat covers

I guess this wouldn't be limited to Wet Okole seat covers, but that's what I'm gonna have (or at least will this Friday!)

I was thinking about adding heated seats since I now live in the ice box of the USA, but I was wondering how much I would feel them through the seat covers if I put them under the factory upholstery...

Any suggestions, tips, reports, experience, etc...? Also, what about putting it on top of the factory upholstery and under the seat covers? Somehow that sounds bad, just don't know for sure...

I have heated seats with RuffTuff seat covers that are padded on the seat side. You can feel the heat through them - and I really can't comment how they feel without the seat covers as I've never tried it that way.

But, it's not something you wanna use for short trips. I've discovered if you turn them 'on' and let the truck warm up, they 'energize' and once you sit on the seat the heat comes faster (the heating pad has a sensor in it so it won't be on if nobody is sitting there). But it takes a bit. I have a 9 mile trip to work and it takes a couple miles before they're nice & toasty. Still better than nothing!!

As for mounting the heating element inbetween your seat and seat covers - you'd have to make sure the heating element isn't gonna damage or melt your seat covers. Depending on the kit you get - you'd have to secure the heating element to the seat to prevent it from buckling up or moving out of place. You're better off installing the unit 'as directed' to avoid problems. Having the element in the seat as directed - helps keep the element in place and they don't move.

I knew that you did it (in fact, you're where I got the idea!) but I didn't realize you had seat covers as well...

 

it's not the greatest solution but for now i've added these to my truck, at least for this winter until i can decide if i want to do better. you may even be able to tuck these between the standard seats and the covers - i'm thinking i might try that

they just plug into a 12V outlet. if i keep them for next winter too, i'll probably hard wire them to a switch or at least add a set of 12V outlets under the seat for connection (but they aren't switched - problem)

 

i would think they would work under wet okoles?? for $20.. might be worth a shot? once you get you okoles on they dont move!

 

I think it would and for $20 you can't go wrong - if they don't work give them to someone as a present for xmas on high they are very strong so definitely worth a shot. if someone tries it, post if it works or not!
