I agree with you. After seeing how awesome that future was on my better half’s explorer, I was excited to see my new Tacoma had it…………. Until I tried it. It does not work nearly, as well as, the one on the other vehicle we have at home.

There's a mute button on the steering wheel. Hold it down, just like the knob. Sorry, it requires half a second more.

Same here.. my wife's GLS450 was not the best vehicle for me to see this feature before the Taco. I may give it another chance. Curious if it works best when on stock tire size and suspension. EDIT: This sounds stupid now that I read it.. but thought was the angle of sensor and how Toyota calibrates it.

I didn't build anything or do anything amazing.. I just had a sick day playing with my wife in her 2021 lunar rock 4runner..

It's NO second gen manual taco.. even with traction control off. And in manual it still won't drive like an asshole.

Truck literally won't "brake free" in snow.. with EVERYTHING shut off

yeah. I was kind of excited of the possibility. The rubber button overlay comes off, but the circuitry cant be moved. I'm sure someone here could figure out a patch or "pony loop" type method. But too much for me to undertake.

nah, there's a photo sensor or two that detect ambient light levels and turn on or off the headlights based on that alone. If I'm not mistaken it is located in the same pod as the forward looking camera right above the rearview mirror.

I totally get your point and to be honest I'm probably 50/50 between using the wheel controls and the knobs. But I like my knobs.
