Opinions and Choice of AAL

I am in the market for an AAL to add minimum height to my non TSB leaf springs. I'm not a heavy hauler, just tired of the my sagging leafs. I keep pulling up next to these new Tacomas and can't help but notice the height difference. Fat Bob's Garage is currently in the lead (price & quality) Suggestions, opinions, and general input is greatly appreciated.

 

That brings up another point. Should I get new shocks as well? I currently have the stock TRD Bilsteins (70K miles). No noticeable bounce following bumps.

 

70k miles. . . New shocks would be a good idea. Although I didn't change mine until 100k miles.

I have 2" Toytec AAL's non-tsb. MY original leafs would bottom out driving over bridges. . . They were bad. i'm really happy with these AAL's. Also, I have 5100's front and back set at 2.5"

 

That is the exact setup I'm shooting for eventually, until then I'm running a hand-me-down (free) spacer in the front. I figured I would upgrade rear shocks to 5100's while I'm doing the AAL, to save time on the install. I have to pay for my wedding this upcoming July so I will most likely wait on the front 5100's. Thanks for all the input thus far.

 

Check out the progressive AAL. They use 3 leafs to make the AAL, to give you a better ride compared to a single AAL. Wheelers makes one and so does Icon. I have the Icon and I love it. I can't tell much difference in the ride from stock.

 

For pure comfort they say the 3 leaf aal is best. I ordered the aal from fat bobs for tsb springs even though i dont have the tsb done. I did this because I wanted a good ride and minimal lift. Mine is 34 inches long and is suppose to lift only 1.5 inches. Yet to install it. Should happen this week, and I can report back then.

 

i have 5100's at 1.75" in front and stock in the back. If i got the 2" toytec aal would i be level? the front is high and the back is sagging. Or should i set the 5100's at 2.5" and get the 2 inch aal to get a nice level out of it. i dont have TSB btw

 

At 1.75 with 2 inch aal most people report level or only a slight rake. Lot of pics on here of that setup. With 2.5 in the front people have some trouble with vibrations and alignment I think.

 

How much rear lift is gained by wheelers 3 leaf aal?

My Icon was supposed to be 1.5" but it turned out to be a little over 2 1/4". I guess it's because my factory springs had 88,000 miles on them and had settled so much. I've got my front 5100s set at 2.5" and I've got 1 1/4" of rake.

 

The rake is hardly noticeable. I believe your truck has the exact stance I'm looking for. I'm running black Pro Comp 7089's with Toyo AT's. Not looking to increase tire size or aggressiveness until the next set. I actually ended up getting a set of 5100's w/ TRD Spring pre-assembled, and I'm just going to swap my full stock Bilsteins and TRD coils straight out, and see if I can flip them. I'm going to start at 1.75" and if the rake is too much with the AAL then I will bump it up. A little rake is okay with me, just looking to rejuvenate my suspension more than anything.
