A little something every chance we get.
neoprene rubber under the flat washer that was provided. Not enough thread for a biscuit. As I get some use on that bottom biscuit, I can probably go add another rubber washer.

I would remove that, it's not needed, and that will allow threads to fully engage lock nut, there should be a minimum of 2 full turns through the nylon locknut.

I would mark them too, make sure the nut isn't slowing unwinding.

Yup, I agree, 99% of time I usually mark anything I worked on after torque specs, that's just the former aviation crew chief in me though, and anything that was nylon loc washer on the aircraft, a new one had to be installed, his leaf packs are still marked from when I did them couple months ago.

Well, what happened was the test drive didn't go very far, or very well. Second left turn about 1/2 mile from the house, on 142 - hard thump rattle, and I pull over and stop. I see lug nuts all over the road.

    20220106_113307.jpg
    20220106_113349.jpg

I walked home, and put the floor jack and such in the RAV. Might as well make it easy as I can. Lifting it up, I see at least 2 sheared studs, and one bent one. Not putting this wheel back on. Call my friend who does wrecker, but not in the shop, so I go over to the shop and get set up for a tow.

    20220106_120614.jpg

It made it about halfway before it fell off the wheel. So, he babied it into the drive way, and we used my floor jack to minimize the dragging.

    20220106_123549.jpg

Moving on to seeing what happened....

My feeling is that I did my final tighten sequence with the tire partly on the ground, and that gave me the impression I had it on and tight. I need to get me some lighter wheels and tires, because, honestly, they are a pain for me. So, they were probably tight, but not ON.
PITA to get the drum off the bent one.

    20220106_152936.jpg

Then again, could have been that rubber washer.....

    20220106_143406.jpg

So, all you experts - I have new studs (took 3 auto supply stores...), and I have banged old ones loose. But, 4 are up against the backing plates and such. Can I rotate the axle? (I didn't try hard). Put it in neutral and rotate? I have a locker. Texoma pulled the axles out part way when he did the locker, but I don't remember how exactly. I would prefer to make it rotate.....

What is your concern with rotating the axle? You will need to lift the other wheel of the ground first…

My plan (tonight) was to lift the other wheel, and jack stand the rear in the air. Neutral, and should be OK. I'm just soliciting expertise!!

That is the correct way to get after it. Make sure you chock the front wheel.

Who wants to recommend me a cool wheel in 16" that's lightweight, and probably at Discount Tire? I want a little cool offset so I look young again, thinking a 275/265 tire this time.

Lw? Best bet would be some vintage te37s although discount won't have them. I guess methods. As far as the studs it would be easier to just pull the whole shaft out least for me it would be.
