While I acknowledge your hesitance to move to a tune, 8 way map switching in VF will be available for the 3rd gen Tacoma, but no ETA. I cannot remember what parameters for each, but it will put VF tunes above pedal commander for sure since you will be able to change on the fly.

I'm sure some besides myself would appreciate your feedback about the update. I'm 3 weeks into a 12-15 week wait for my '22. I wonder if by then the upgrade you're getting would be automatically be incorporated from the factory?

Yeah when I take my 2021 in for it's first service I'll check if I need the update.
My truck with the Pedal Commander drives great. So I'm not in any rush to fix something that's not really broken. But I'll post it up if I do get the software.

Those are some of the same reasons I don't seek a garage mechanic to reprogram my $40K truck. I'll leave those things to Toyota. They normally lag behind a few years in resolving issues but eventually they seem to work out all the bugs.

Doesn't matter what vehicle you put it on, it will do the same thing....allow you to adjust the delay time from when you push the accelerator to the actual point your engine reacts.... it works and makes the truck more responsive....... i have one on my 2nd gen (sorry i am breaking your 3rd gen owner feedback request) and like it, makes the truck less sluggish feeling....

Like I said my truck drives perfectly fine with the PC. I have no real desire to fix something I don't really have an issue with. The PC allows me to play around with how my truck drives and that's more than enough.
Why you keep trying to sell crazy here is confusing?
    We get it!!!!!!
    You love the tune! AWESOME!!!!
So stop being a"KAREN" and pushing your unwanted opinions in where it doesn't belong!
This thread is asking specifically for opinions on PC NOT Tunes. I understand that this logic eludes you. Fine!
But please stop quoting me or tagging me because like I said earlier, I DON'T CARE!!!!! If I did? I would chime in on the "Tune" thread and post a question there.
So you have a Wonderful Day!

    Bye Falicia!!!!!

As with any logical debate, providing supporting reasons/evidence as to why something may be better over the other is standard practice. I seriously doubt the Op only wants yes or no answers. They would probably want to know or understand the evidence/reasoning behind why someone supports or doesn't support it. To silence opposition to your opinion while pushing your own opinion is a bit ridiculous and does not contribute to a healthy discussion. It's absolutely logical to say they don't support PC because they feel the tune does a better job. If you have no issues with someone suggesting a shift sense over pedal commander but you do when someone suggests a tune, then you have a clear bias against tuning.

If you want a definitive fix for the lag these trucks have, go get the KDmax tune. I'm sure someone near you offers it.

You are absolutely correct! The tune may be a great option. (But this thread was not looking for a debate between the two.) it was simply asking for those who have used it was it any good? Did they like it?

But to come to a thread absolute bash on what it is asking about is crazy? (Not sure why he is so "emotionally" invested in everyone seeing thing only his way?)
My experience with the PC is that it delivers what it says it can do. Nothing more nothing less!
If you set it up wrong, it will make your truck drive like CRAP. (I've done it)
No one is going into the "Tune" thread and "acting a fool" and bashing on everyones experience as if it was "Wrong"
Hey the tune may be Great?! I have absolutely no idea. (Never said it was bad!)
I wouldn't speak on something I know very little about.
I can offer my reasons why I opted for one over the other but that would just be my personal opinion. (Take it with a grain of salt).

My opinion will not change! I believe there is a place for both options due to the fact that they sort of do different things. Both could enhance each other.

Maybe as you stated earlier when the new tune comes out and it can be changed on the fly it might make the PC obsolete??

You come and give your opinion on the good and the bad and we can have a civil discussion. You are actually reasonable. (and you don't come off as a "Hater") I can respect that!

It's healthy to have a good discussion. Hope we can do so in the future!

    Have a Great Night!

Quoting this because addressing it separately would be a pain. But there is definitely a guy in the tune section who bashes everyone else on what they claim or say (recently he's taken a hard-on for a particular tune though, so he supports all claims when it comes to that tune specifically). I've put him in his place a few times on here actually and very recently I made him eat his own words. Lol

I think PC has great potential, but when considering options, the risk of limp mode was too much for me to chance it. I don't quite know what causes it but I do know that running PC and a tune at the same time increases your chances of it happening. It also doesn't seem to happen to everyone either. I'll admit, it's possible to do it with the tune, I've done it before. It was the second tune I had ever made. I learned what I did wrong and was able to correct the issue.

But when you factor in the price, PC is expensive compared to a tune. PC costs $350 and has 2 features. You can change the throttle response and you can also do so on the fly. But the tune kit, for $30 more, can change throttle response, shift points, torque converter, alternator voltages (for example, to charge AGM batteries), speed limiter, RPM limiters, actually fix [standard] cruise control (PC cannot do because you are not using the pedal) and so much more. Yeah, there's a large learning curve to overcome, especially now that the tuning business has went from working together to behind closed doors so there is little to no discussion anymore. But the price per feature makes PC significantly more expensive than tuning.

Now, I feel that you are definitely entitled to your opinion and I can see where you're coming from and why you're hesitant to get a tune, a lot of people are. I never tuned my 2017, but the difference in the way it felt going to my 2020 was incredible in how it drove (both vehicles were stock). Then I said I'd try out the tune... If only you could have seen the smile I had, from ear to ear, when I did my first test drive.

Regardless, civility is what can keep us separated from other vehicle forums. Honestly, I think TW is one of the worst when it comes to that, but it's not as bad as most of the Tacoma Facebook groups, so overall it's not so bad. And if someone is constantly getting on your nerves, there's always the ignore button. I have yet to use it on anyone, but it's only a matter of time before I have to make the decision to press the [Post Reply] button and chance a ban, or just select the [Ignore] button and move on.

My reservations on the tune is that I'm not familiar with the person who developed the tune. I don't know their expertise and how well they know the actual software. (Much of which is proprietary to Toyota Motor Corp)

I do some programing at work, The biggest issue about writing code or software for other peoples programs, you could be altering code that their other codes/parameters depend on to function properly. Unless you can actually see the entire programming code. (which I highly doubt that Toyota would allow)
These programs maybe running in the background and you would never know about it until it doesn't do its job. But by that time you would not associate the changes to be the cause, due to the fact that the system was functioning properly.

So this is just my personal reason to stay away from Non-Toyota software for my truck. The PC only alters the signals from the fly-by-wire unit at the pedal. So for the most part its fairly harmless. And it accomplishes what I need and that great.

Either way people have the freedom to choose for themselves.

Oh? If you think FB or TW is bad? Try TTORA. LMAO! That's a whole different level!

I flashed my ECU with premium SFOB tune and my truck has about 20% more power, especially down low, starts better than stock, gets same or better MPGs, and the engine just sounds happier.

I have no worries regarding engine longevity. Toyota engineers did not spend enough time fine tuning the 3.5, hence the TSB updates from all the drivebility complaints. By the way, I had no real complaints on the stock tune. So your argument that Toyota engineers know best does not really have a leg to stand on here.

OV tune has been around for about 5 years, I have not heard about an engine failure just yet.
