Damn! Y'all bought like mid '21 right? 2 years to build - eesh. OP before that by any chance at least?

And this was Mass right? Or did you go to MA and coming back to RI I can't remember  either way cool beans! This time of year is when a lot of crews are slow, so you might get lucky.

yeah the front L shaped section is the garage. i believe they're backfilling that today to let it start settling for the slab

yeah we bought a while back but had to sit on it for a while getting permits, and finalizing the build. it's in mass, this has been a big learning experience

I recall a while ago, some of you guys had caps repainted to match your trucks. Anyone care to post up how much it cost and where you did it? I can't remember if one of you guys does painting on the side and, if so, any interest in doing it again? Really getting serious about swapping to a bed cap again and pickings are slim. I've found a couple that are the wrong color and wondering if it's worth it.

Truck passed inspection yee-haw! Now I can take the seat back out and put my garage back together. We'll see how I feel about doing that tonight vs. this weekend or something, but yee haw! 2 years, and I pushed it into January so when it expires in January, the color lasts through the next 11 months :spy:

Depends on how much you put on it and how much you paid. You might be up some.

Glad I could help out, thankfully your truck, along with everyone else's truck on this forum, is in good enough shape to easily pass inspection! I see so much that shouldn't really be on the road, and people continue to try and fix them to get more time out of their cars/trucks (I get car prices are at an all time high, but some people want to put thousands of dollars into a car that is worth $500).

Anyway, if anyone else needs their truck inspected in RI, and wants to come to Smithfield, just give me a shout!

The issue is anything on the market to replace it with alsobhas inflated pricing, so you're not winning.

Exactly, when MSRP is a serious deal, unless you've got thigns lined up perfectly, you're not winning. If you had a spare vehicle and could ride it out for another year or two, you might be in a good place. I had plans of buying a 3rd car this summer, but the market for anything hobbyist is so inflated it's likely not in the cards, but I'll keep trying.

Sometimes that makes sense, though not for a $500 vessel really. My friend has dropped about 4K into her 9 year old car with 110K because of prices plus her credit sucking on top of it. Mostly the transmission croaking..

Yeah not unless you happen to find someone trying to unload quick, and then you still gotta be quickest to jump

No...3rd, because I'm crazy. It likely won't ever happen, but I have dreams of hot hatches. I miss small displacement, high RPMs and turbo noises. The Vette offers things that can't be replicated with a small car, but as time has passed I've really started to miss the STi. A Japanese halo car from the 90s would fit the bill perfectly but all of them have started their accent to six figures and I missed the boat badly. I'm trying to find something in-between that I can drive in the winter if I wantt to, so it can't be that nice. I got an eye roll from the wife when I mentioned doing it, but an eye roll isn't "no" so, we will see what happens. Pre-pandemic I saw a bit of a basketcase 2008-9ish STi hatch for $10,500 and it got me thinking. Set aside enough cash to put a new motor in it, get a small loan to finance the rest in a setup I could dump in a pinch and not be underwater...a guy can dream.

Definitely. The FiST and FoST were on the list as were the other usual suspects, GTI, WRX, MS3, etc. I toy with going back to 90s Honda but there are none left around here worth buying and it would be a crime to take a mint 97-01 Integra or a 99-00 Civic Si coupe through a Northeast winter (nevermind the fact the first time I parked it somewhere it would be stolen). I've thought about going weird with like a 1st generation GS300 and doing an Aristo swap to get power / luxury, but that's likely outside of my budget and abilities. I'm sure I'd eventually get it back together at the expense of all of my spare cash and time and likely marriage. I thought I'd take a look and see if any Speed 6s were stil around and here are basically none that are't all rotted out, which is a shame because I enjoyed the one I drove at the Mazda event. The appeal of the FiST is that it's not a "fast" car, but it's a flingable momentum car. My STi had nearly 400 hp when I was done and wasn't all that fun to drive around on the streets because it always wanted to be pushed hard and that could have easily gotten me into trouble.

We will see what the summer brings. I've also been saving up for a QuickJack which will certainly be useful, so it depends on how the buckets fill up. I've been trying to tamp down the diecast urges since they've gotten me into trouble lately.

This conversation is just making me feel worse about ever getting into a fun car lmao. At this rate I'll just buy a beater and a crate ls1 but again, too much power sucks the fun out of driving it...maybe I'll actually just buy a high powered go kart and call it a day hahaha
