Its been talked about some on the thread, Leaking AC, but I was wondering if it just affected 3rd Gens, thought maybe they change HVAC design in 3rd generation, but sounds like it's been going on for awhile! I'm just totally in awe that Toyota is aware of this issue but continues to sell vehicles that leak water onto the floor!!!!! Water on carpet = mold which can make some people sick! I've never had a vehicle drip water onto floor unless it was a heater core leak or exterior seal leak. What about all the wires in that area that is getting wet also?

Not a lot of details at the moment. Dakotas have always been in that odd size between mid size and full size. I had one years ago. It was larger than the Tacomas of the time, and smaller than the full sizes. I wouldn't be surprised to see the new Dakota running FCA's new "Tornado" inline 6. Inline 6 + turbo makes for good torque.

I'm so surprised that Toyota didn't address this by now! Like I said, doesn't do it all the time, only on longer trips @ highway speeds when dew points and humidity is high, then when you slow down or stop, it drips! I guess because most don't use for daily driver under the formentioned condition, there isn't enough complaints or a hit in Toyotas bottom line for them to redesign system? I think most people just except the bullshit dealers and Toyota corporate headquarters tells them! But don't worry guy's, I'm gonna take one for the team and pursue this! Lol. David agaist Goliath, I better start sighting in my slingshot! Lol.

I hate to say it, but Toyota included, most new vehicles these days really are missing the mark in terms of pure reliability mixed with a lack of any sort for customer service/ loyalty.
I had to lemon law my 2020 Silverado because it had a random misfire they could not fix and the brakes randomly stopped working one day. Thank god I was only backing out of a parking spot when it happened. I turned the truck off and restated it and I had brakes again. Dealership didn't care and neither did GM when I called. It took GM almost a year to issue a recall and software update for failing brakes. Co-workers F150 has take off shudder that shakes the entire truck when he takes off. Ford tells him its normal lol.

Toyota isn't helping people with 3 year old trucks that have the paint peeling off of them. How pissed would you be when you have to spend 5k on a paint job for a 3 year old vehicle? My 3rd gen company truck has had a vibration while slowing down since it was new. It's been to the dealer a few times. Still does it.

All car companies suck these days.

I kinda can understand when things go wrong if you don't follow the manufacter recommendation, everything is built to be safe and last for the task it was designed to do! But unfortunately , as always, money is the main catalyst that drives their thinking, RISK vs REWARD! Basically, if auto makers feel like it's a safty issue that will cost them millions or billions, they do everything they can to correct it, but most other things that we complain about they just laugh @ us, knowing they can outlast us through legal mitigation!

My 1991 Dodge Cummins diesel has A/C that drips water but the engineers/designers at Chrysler figured out how to get the drips to go from the engine bay to the ground, not the cab. Chrysler smarter than Toyota, never would have guessed that.

100% It's like we have to pick the lesser of all the evils haha.

I love my Toyota's but the Tacoma is not the truck it once was. BUT! I still do think it is a much better vehicle then its competition (ranger, colorado, etc)

I agree, we all have our preferences, even that one person I'm this world still driving a YUGO simplies loves it, but the other 99% that had theirs in the shop after the 1st couple if weeks if ownership simple regrets their decision to buy one! I'm probably overstating that their still one that's drivable! Lol.

People defend the hell out of the 3rd gen but that's mostly because they spent money on it. They base their opinion on emotions, not facts. They come up with excuses like it's a truck, it's supposed to ride like shit and shake and have vibration issues etc....There is no excuse to have any issues like that when spending 40k+ on a vehicle.

My 2020 Silverado was about the same price as a decently optioned trd( I paid 44k). Yes, it had issues but the truck drove like a tahoe. Quiet, comfortable, drove and shifted almost perfect and could tow 10k + pounds. no reason Toyota can't get that part right considering its almost the same price.

Shit, some 3rd gens are catching on fire because of a block heater recall. I am sure someone on here will chime it to defend it in some sort of off way.

Well, everybody has a sports team they defend rigorously, whether they suck or not!
Personal I love my truck, but I have to because if I didn't, then I would have to admit to myself that I made a mistake! Lol. But I've been commuting to work for 35 years, 140 miles R/T and the one that last the longest that I've seen driven in that time has been Toyota and Nissans! I understand things are gonna start happening to high mileage vehicles, but to have problems of any kind right out of the gate is totally unacceptable, especially after you get a few years into a generation of models where the bugs should have been worked out!

I didn't. Purchased over the phone. 2 conditions. Had to be a TRD DCLB 4x4 (in Canada means a sport). Any color other than black. Really silly in hindsight to spend 50K CDN on a truck based on my experience on owning a brand new 1992 extra cab V6 5spd 4x4 for 14 years. Also being immunocompromised with Covid raging was another reason to avoid the dealership. Did a lot of research tho beforehand and new what I was getting into. Biggest thing was the power adjustable drivers seat. It was new for 2020. Once my wife and I got the truck home she tested it out and was very comfortable. We have had the truck for over a year and we both love it. Meets all our needs.

Nothing is perfect in this world...
My point, however, I'm enjoying with what I have, serving my purposes well and I can afford.
    Simple.
I love my Tacosha, this truck is great match for me.
Thanks to the forum members postings and my experience/common sense, I'm paying attention and fixing/upgrading little
engineering flaws, and really enjoy life!

People really don’t care anymore about their work. Can’t say I blame them, that’s all you hear about in the news. I would love to see what they come up with to turn this situation around. I do believe this could be the new normal.

Excuse me please, I probably miss the point, but what you are talking about? What's about jobs? Ability to make payments for Lambo's or 6x6GW?
    Please explain...

I honestly have a clearer conscience selling guns for a living now than when I worked for auto dealerships.

Like this thread. Much wisdom here. I can’t help but substitute “California” for “Tacoma”. :) I find many concepts the same.
