I'm not knocking the jack but.....
just because the two jacks are made at the same facility doesn't mean they are being made with the same materials to the same specs.

do some research. There’s a lot of videos comparing the two and side by side they appear to be the exact same jack with different paint jobs. The similarities don’t stop at just the factory that they’re made in.

OK, but It's gonna take a bit of convincing for me to believe Harbor Freight and Snap-on anything are comparable.

1.5t aluminum harbor freight jack. Pumps fast and weights very little

Hi-Lift jacks are a pretty versatile tool but am I correct in thinking they cannot easily be used on a stock truck (?)

Nothing wrong with the factory jack. It's normally user error when they can't get it to work correctly. (The factory jack is more than tall enough if placed in the correct position) I wouldn't worry about it, unless you have flats multiple times a year?

I carry a tire repair plug kit, and I have my ARB Twin. It would need to be a catastrophic blowout for me to put the spare on.

You do you. For the record I'm not one of those Harbor Freight evangelists that vouch for everything they make (I've got those friends). I still prefer my miller welder over a vulcan and typically only go to Harbor Fraught for one time use tools but that big yellow jack is pretty damn good. Plus as a hobbyist I don't need to drop almost $1k on a snap on jack I use a handful of times per year.

The longer that Daytona jack has been out the more and more I see local auto and tire shops using them as well. Not saying it is a Snap on but it is a damn good jack, ESPECIALLY for the price

    Mostly correct.

You need jacking points near the exterior of the truck, usually accomplished by adding sliders or bumpers. Or, you can get creative with lifting straps. Most lifting straps are only convenient for wrapping wheels though. Using them on lifting points under the truck will usually result in damaging body panels. Unless you have two hi-lifts. Lol. It gets complicated.

I hear ya and have stopped to look at them in the past.
Truth be told, if my old 2T Craftsman ever dies and can't be repaired, something from HF would probably fill in.
I especially like the rapid pumps.

I just didn't want someone coming up thinking the two were the same because of where they were made.

Forgot to mention…if you happen to carry a 10’+ long 4x6 with you wherever you go…

Lol. Hi-lifts are awesome and super versatile tools, but I’ve rarely changed a tire with one.

I just bought a Daytona 3 Ton during the Christmas sales. 20”+ of lift for $160. Couldn’t resist.

I’d heard that they were one of the higher quality products at HF…good to see another purchase confirmation.

Hi-lift jack are the mechanical version of a Skottle. Faux overlander jewelry for a mall crawler truck.
Can you change a tire with it? Nope.
Can you winch a vehicle with it? Yup but about 12” an hour.
Can you use it on a factory Tacoma without causing body damage? Nope.
Are they huge and cumbersome? Yes.
    Dangerous? Yup.
Don’t get me started on a skottle! just my opinion but flame away.
I’m a big boy, home with Covid and am happy to throw spears back so chuck away!
