I find myself feeling the lure of getting the bowl lights from time to time and I go to the web site...and find that the ordering process no longer addresses if you have a double cab or an access cab. SO, I wonder..how many do I need to order? Is the price that's listed for one set? One light? Four lights?

And then I close the site grateful that, once again, I overcame temptation.

Apparently the unmentionable is only one that’s not worried about airbag lawsuits.

That's one hell of a commitment test. I suppose it is easier turning away than some sexy wheels where you know what you're getting into.

One of the aspects that I really don't worry about, esp compared to some other mods that get posted on TW. Probably not even in the Top 10, in my mind?

Yeah, I've always felt that the airbag aspect was kinda silly. However I've often wondered how the highly desirable add-on hood struts affect the safety aspect of the hood "crumple zone" . . .

Great question. If they are not fully compressed when installed and closed, my guess is that there would be enough space left that would allow the hood to buckle. There are hooks at the hinge that keep if from coming through the window. Possibly the biggest risk would be it coming unlatched in the front or buckling in two places instead of the designed spot?

Oh, I was thinking snapping at the mount points and spearing through into the cab as the bigger risk than deformation behavior.

But, my 2002 Tundra has OEM struts as does my bro-in-law's Ram so it's hard to believe that they would have a material risk in a Tacoma without some odd stroke of bad luck.

Good point there also. The tube is likely to be stronger than the firewall outright, but I think it would deflect first? Like you said, it would be a thing with other OEM struts also.

There's also a lot of dash for those pistons and tubes to go through... Absolutely not a concern.

The same people that make airbag complaints are the same people running a Meso molle rack above their head... Nearly any mod you do to a Tacoma is going to make it "less safe". Ride a motorcycle and take all of the "crash safety" with a grain of salt.

That looks super well thought out. Looks like she deleted all the instagram comments for the HUD. Crooked company.

It’s a rather ambitious product. Compared to a grab handle at least. Electronics in an auto environment, not exactly the easiest thing to build from scratch or even assemble from parts for production use.

I really would love a gear indicator. Seems doable with mph and rpm.

And I do love my scangauge in the Tundra. But the Tacoma has a lot of that already whereas the ‘02 Tundra is a bit sparse on displays.

Isn't the gear indicator on a MT the position of the stick? Granted, my last manual was a '92 Tercel.

Yeah, I’ve been roasted about this before. R and 1 are pretty close, granted there’s is a beep and also backup camera but in a panic where ms count, that’s one aspect I can still get wrong sometimes.

4th and 6th are another combo which can get vague after cruising on the freeway in traffic. Skinny pedal tells you if you mash it but might be nice to have a visual to remember to downshift if you forgot you’re in 6th.

I’m likely just an incompetent driver though.
