I'm using a Curt 10000 lb WDH and it was $375.00 shipped to my door. And I can back up no worries and almost full crank it. Trailer is 4000 lb ~

I use a Fastway E2 with the square bars with close to 4500lbs of single axle trailer. You don’t need to unhook to back up which is very nice. There is some noise, but it’s not horrible.

I never thought about taking the ScanGaugeII out of my old ride and reinstalling in the Taco... I still have the old ride, where I used the RV Mirror mount and put it above the mirror. Would need to look and see how it would appear in my TRD OR... and how to run the ethernet cable down to the OBD2 plug...

Thanks for giving me something to do tomorrow!

How long of a trailer is that? Looks good.

I've had the RAS on my 5 lug since when it was almost new and now 10 years and 210,000 miles later I still like driving the truck and I owe that to the RAS. Without RAS there was significant body roll and axle hop with very normal driving. Doubt that is as much of a problem with a double cab but it helped with towing too.

Provided you stay within the tongue weight limit, RAS will eliminate squat when towing and stiffen up the ride in the process. I keep about 400 lbs in the back to keep the rear wheels on the ground when not towing. Compared to my Tacoma without, it makes it feel like driving a full size truck. Goes over bumpy roads with the feel of a full size truck. At $500 they are pricey, but worth every penny.

Lots of good help being given. Just wanted to mention I had lots of sag when I first got my 19’ trailer (single axle) and that’s with a WD hitch and the TSB leafs.

the next summer I upgraded to the Old Man Emu medium duty leaf packs, and noticed a great difference. Now my single axle camper makes my truck ride level and people don’t think I have my high beams on at night due to me being nose high.

If you have any small exhaust issues now, take care of them before the first big trip! Heavy load for long periods will make them rear their heads… or so I hear haha

3500 lbs, 350 tongue weight (probably 400 with the tank). Use the Equalizer hitch. Levels the ride well, and the sway control helps keep the trailer from getting pushed around by the wind and from being pulled into the drag from semis. I have not had to unhook it to back up the trailer, but I also haven’t yet had to back at any crazy angles.

Intentionally misleading video intended to sell WD hitches. If they were being honest when the guy says "we loaded the trailer to achieve the 1k pound tongue weight we wanted" he would have said "Watch as we front load the hell out of this trailer in order to skew the results."

As far as deceptive marketing goes, that was a pretty good one.

I’ve heard good things about the equalizer, it doesn’t reduce your clearance by much does it?

Which clearance? Ground? If ground, you can see in the picture on my other post that the jacks (tongue and stabilizer) hang lower than the hitch. Spare tire might too, so it shouldn’t interfere with ground clearance too much. That said, I’m not sure I’d want to take a trailer over landing with it. I’ve crossed some aggressive railroad tracks with no issue, though.

i did airbags with Daystar cradles (so I can still offroad) and with the tow sway hitch system it tows my 4000lb trailer quote well

the Firestone ones. Think they were about $320 or close to that. The Daystar cradles are a must.

took me about 2-3 hours for install and running the air lines to the back bumper

I’ve never used airbags, but I’m mechanically inclined and think I get the idea of the airbags, but how do the cradles help?

the cradles make it so the airbag is not connected to the axle. The airbag is attached to the frame at the top.

Instead the cradle acts as a cup to hold the airbag when it meets the cradle. When the axle articulates the airbag can leave the cradle allowing more articulation of the rear suspension for offroad scenarios
