    Yes, let the owner get their own gear oil. I carry the front diff crush washers as well, leave it up to them if they want to change the other crush washers.

    It's really easy. Just did mine a few weeks ago and impressed at the savings. Though it is simple DO NOT over torque any of the plugs especially on the soft aluminum transfer case. In some cases it can end up being an expensive PITA.

    If they used the correct Toyota fluid that's not tooooooo bad lol. When I did the wife's 4runner I think I had about $220 in fluid.

    I did the front, rear and transfer case without even raising the Taco. There's plenty of clearance.

    What the hell is a crush washer?
    Just put it back up there and use flex seal like a normal human. ;)

    Since we are on the subject, anyone care to give the amount of fluid these difs need? Gonna get stocked up for my gear change.

    At minimum change the front diff fill plug crush washer. The rest are optional.

    Front diff 1.6
    Transfer case 1.1
    Rear diff 3.5-3.8

    Buy 7 quarts, should be just enough.

    OP, if nothing else try doing just the rear diff yourself next time. It is by far the easiest to access in general, and the easiest plugs to access as far as the likelihood of smashing your knuckles on anything.

    I remember doing engine oil, tranny drain and fill, both diffs and transfer case one weekend for 60K maintenance (2nd gen keep in mind) and doing the rear diff was almost a break from the rest.

    I did mine at 30k, then re did the rear diff 10k later cause I was having some vibrations. It was crazy dirty after 10k miles, but……I did do a couple water crossings so water might of got in.
    I do have a diff breather extension.

    so if you do water crossings, yes you need to do it more often.

    Its about a hour and a half job, including getting out and putting up tools. Best thing is to have a helper pump the fluid while you hold the hose in the fill hole. I paid around $300 for Redline fluids, but that also included the MT.

    It was about $110.00 for the fluid and crush washers. Takes about 2 hours. Super easy DIY job. As a side note, differential fluid smells horrible!!

    I would be really surprised if they used the Toyota fluid for your t case at that price, not that it matters. It's like $60/quart and you need a little more than 1
