This is super helpful!! Thank you. My u bolts are definitely WAY shorter than that. Looks like the u bolts might have part numbers printed on them, that might help me with IM. Currently they're asking for a photo of the box my u bolts came in (long gone by now) and the bolts themselves to verify before offering me a refund on them.

I did not notice if the foam cell pro kit comes with new top hats for the coil overs. I’m assuming what’s in the picture is what you get.

so, I guess I need the top hats for the coil overs

If you ordered them assembled they’ll have the top hats unassembled do not. Those were 25-30 each on Amazon though

The u bolts I received with the constant load leafs were the 678s and they're 8.5 inches long.

I found them to be too long for the constant load leaf pack after I removed leaves 3 and 5. I switched back to the OEM bolts and I have a few threads showing below each bolt.

I went with unassembled since a friend has a pretty beefy spring compressor

Update on my u bolts: I apparently have the correct ones that are spec'd to come with the kit. Part number 437UBK, just under 7" long. Even after Mule tightened them down they were still not even flush with the bottom of the nut. They would be sticking out a little if I didn't have axle shims, but still not as much as they should be. Seems IM is just providing an inadequate part with their Performance Load leaf packs. Everyone should just be getting the 687s that come with the Constant Load packs.

Anyway, the new 8" Icon ones are super. They stick out about an inch past the nuts as they should.

If you are properly torqued two threads sticking out beyond the nut is more than enough. All you really need is 100% thread engagement in the nut. If mine stuck down an inch I'd throw them in the trash and install something shorter to prevent them hanging up and getting damaged on rocks.

Or just cut them... Once the nut is on, it's not that hard.

Been there, done that a lot, but nowadays I'd have to be a long way from a hardware or fastener store.

I understand that concern for some folx, but I don't off road seriously enough for that to be a concern to me. I'd rather meet the standard explained to me by professionals from an off-road oriented shop than call it good on someone else's rule of thumb :notsure:

This is all about comfort level.. with all that I’ve done to my truck and cars in the past my wife still won’t let me change the brakes on her car…

Yeah. I ok'd the too-short u-bolts when my mechanic pointed them out to me cause in my experience building shit as a carpenter, that seemed secure. Especially torqued to 90 with lock washers in there. When Mule told me it was super unsafe I was like oh shit ok my rule of thumb isn't good enough in this situation. I'd just rather be safe than sorry since I don't need every inch of clearance under there.
