    Hi,

I've been around TW for the past 6 months and been pretty quiet trying to figure out stuff for my '98 Tacoma.

Well yesterday, I decided I needed an upgrade - the X-Cab wasn't cutting it to bring the whole fam when needed. Sold the '98 Tacoma SR5/TRD 3.4L MT within an hour of listing it on CL and today I'm rock'n in a new '11 DCLB Sport in SuperWhite.

Now onto a bit of customization. Here's my short-term TDL:

Black wheels / tint / grill work
    Leather interior
    Intake / exhaust
    Suspension & tires

I want an aggressive look but may sacrifice some capability as I'm really not going to do any "crawling". Also, I do still need to transport a motorcycle in the back (track days) so a massive lift is not practical from that standpoint.

Any tips / suggestions / warnings are appreciated for this newbie.

Good idea with the black and white. I think white trucks look sweet blacked out.

Check out eibach springs and bilstein 5100's for a lift.

    Have fun!

Welcome to TW from Texas  I know what ya mean on the hauling the motorcycle, my 3in lift is perfect for what i do. and it doesnt seem to tall when loading the bike.

Good choice on the Long Bed too! Mines almost to short for the motorcycle

^^^ wat he said good choice on longbed, my buddy has a shortbed tacoma and its a pain getting the bikes to fit with all the gear

ive got a super white access cab with black rims, looks real aggresive i think and ive got a 3" lift, perfect hieght and i can easily throw my bike up in there

One of the main reasons I am selling my Jeep and bought this Tacoma was to haul my bike for track days! I wanted at least a 6' bed for the bike, but since I won't be using my truck to haul the family around I could get an access cab. My truck fits in the garage, which is a good thing.

My truck will admittedly live the majority of its life on pavement, also, so my mods will be mostly cosmetic. A bed mat and additional D-rings are top priorities. After that, I really want wheels and tires.

Since we are on the same path, post up pics and details of what you do with your truck. I am interested!

Also, scroll down to the motorcycle topic and post up some track day pics! :D

Oh yeah - I've seen your build. I've been using that as inspiration. I'll be lucky if I can get that far.

    Update:
    • Tint is scheduled for Friday.
    • I picked up the USA Spec PA15-Toy today and should have my iPhone integrated this weekend.
    • Started talking to shops about a lift - options look like either a RevTek (spacer) lift or the Bilstein 5100+AAL configuration.

Will be doing more research on suspension, but I think I need to get that sorted before the wheel/tire combo.

    Have fun with it.

Oh and please don't get a spacer lift.

Thanks for the spacer advice. Leaning heavily to the Bilstein 5100 up front and AAL in the back. Do I need new Bilstein shocks in the back also?

Day 2 of ownership and first mod complete:

Just installed the USA-SPEC PA-15 TOY for the iPod control. Very easy, decent integration and has direct iPod control and charging support for my iPhone 4. Once I get the ProClip mount installed, I'll post pics.

You don't need them, but for only $100 more they will greatly improve the ride.
