Very weird problem going on right now. Randomly my reverse camera in the rear view and reverse lights stopped working. I did a bit of tw research and sounded most likely that it was the reverse switch. Got a new one for $25 bucks from autozone, swapped it out took 5 mins but now the camera and reverse lights are stuck on. Doesn’t matter what gear I’m in they are on all the time, please help.

Did you put the sealing washer on when you installed it?

No there was no washer. I did just install the old one back into the trans and everything seems to be working now. Very odd

There should be an aluminum crush washer on it, if it isn't installed on the switch the switch will thread too far in and be depressed all the time and keep the reverse lights on.

Correction the washer stayed on the trans so it was in for both switches. Old switch working now and new switch tells it that it’s in reverse all the time. Guess I’ll just keep the old switch in and pray it continues to work.

Sounds like a defective switch then, wouldn't surprise me with the crap parts we are getting these days.

Plug it in without installing it in the transmission, if the reverse lights stay on then it's definitely no good.
