yea i knew those were there. theyre more annoying than anything. and with the seats up and the head rests in it blocks a bit of the back window which is also annoying. plus if im driving to the mountains and someone else comes with us, they sit behind the passenger seat and my gf takes off the passenger seat headrest anyway to turn around and talk to whoever is back there.

i used to keep the back head head rests there too, but they would get caught on whatever im pulling out of the back seat and catch whatever im putting in there. i never use them

That's cool. Just making sure you knew about it cause it's not well advertised! Enjoy the mountains this winter stranger

So what was the end result?

Going through this process now. Wanted a Pro, but they seem to be as available as unicorns.

There seem to be limited availability of Sport models but Off Roads are harder to come by.

I don’t mind waiting, but obviously being flexible on configuration means getting one sooner. Also debating a long bed option, but it seems like a double cab with a LB is pretty loooong.

Welp, you're gonna get a kick out of this - I ultimately decided on a 4runner, given the circumstances.

    My reason:
    - Access cab or short beds are both no-go for me. After checking out some used taco's at a dealership I didn't even bother test driving them. So really DCLB is the only option I'd consider, locker or not.
    - Test drove a 2019 DCLB. Length-wise it wasn't that bad at all - definitely something you can get used to, but preferred the drivetrain on the 4runner.
    - I want this vehicle to be a camper / light off-road all in one. With the 4R I know I'm getting a vehicle that will satisfy my needs immediately without many mods, or any at all.

I ultimately still want a truck, but I thought I'll save the frustrations of getting an expensive leaky camper shell for the future. Might upgrade to a Tundra eventually idk.

On the topic of trims, I currently have a 2018 TRD Sport Double cab and am looking to upgrade to a model with more options. I am considering a 2022 Limited or a TRD Sport with the option packages that provide the same options as the Limited. The added options I would like are the sunroof, leather seats, top end stereo and the Advanced Technology package. If I could get a model with a little smoother ride that would be great. I do not do any off-road, but do live in snowy Minnesota. Any advice on which model may be best?

Good choice. Always worth considering your options, and I enjoy doing the research. Congrats and enjoy your 4Runner.

Long bed was interesting, but length and availability of MT settled that discussion straight away. Never thought about it again.

    - And SB just looks better

I was not going full on rock crawler with mods. “Close to stock” PRO suits me quite nicely.

Well equipped OR in any good color = PRO price. (Or often more these days!).

so PRO was an easy decision.
