I have a 4Runner with a 3400 in it. It has 305,000 on it. A week ago ran perfect. Changed valve cover gaskets intake gaskets, accidentally got the water and vacuum lines mixed up. Did not start it that way. Got that fixed, now the last cylinder on passenger side, today is full of fuel? Stuck injector? Im guessing. This is getting aggravating. Brake problems also. My gosh, I just got this thing, its semi cherry been taken care of most of its life except the last seven years. My brother in law sucks. But my other brother in law took care of it religiously. Its been sitting for three years hardly driven. Argggggggggg. I am an above average tech, frustrating.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Could be a stuck injector, or maybe a bad spark plug/coil? Try swapping the plug and coil to another cylinder and see if the problem follows. Then do the same with the injector(cleaning it if possible), inspecting the seals to make sure it's not spewing outta the rail into the cylinder. if that doesn't solve it, inspect injector and coil wiring for any shorts or bad insulation that could mess up spark or cause the injector to run full blast.

A 3rd gen with 305K on it? That thing was driven a lot. You'd probably can start to expect things to be failing, that's a lot of revolutions in it's lifetime.
Without seeing/ testing anything, I'd say possibilities could be a stuck injector, low compression (burnt valve), flat cam, or spark (coil or plug). Have it tested, check compression and then go from there.

    Agreed!
Semi cherry? That's in line of almost a Virgin! I'm sure you didn't just find out that your one brother in law sucks, might have been a good reason it sat for 3 yrs? Knowing what you know about him, next time you buy something from him, write a check, maybe you would have had time to cancel it? Good luck! Have a fire extinguisher around if your gonna start checking for gas leaks and sparks.

@Eldiablo14 I think what eurowner was trying to get across is that this post was placed in the 3rd gen Tacoma section. Tacomas and 4runners haven't used that engine since the first generation.
Maybe one of the moderators could move it to a more appropriate section where you may have a better chance getting more help.
Good luck with your 4runner and welcome to Tacoma World. Oh, there's even a 4runner section 'round here somewhere

You might have better luck searching for 5ze-fe engine stuff, since thats what you have, or posting in the first gen section, or in the 4runner section.

the third gen taco section will be of zero help.

    Stock and staying that way
Almost certainly a stuck injector. Hopefully it didn't bend a rod.

    1st Gen 4runner didn't use that engine. 3rd gen 4runner used the 3.4L 5ZE-FE.
