I know what Luan is. I was asking if you covered the hardwood to protect it. I was asking for clarification of what your picture was showing as you didn’t state that you were or were not putting new flooring in. Luan is used commonly to bridge uneven flooring so that linoleum or carpet can be put down over a smooth uniform surface.

Does anyone have a good source on how to properly install ridge shingles? I think the OC (original clown) blew it. Big time becoming UFO's every windstorm.

I think the nails are still up there, tore around nail heads - holes in tore off shingles.

I misunderstood, my apologies. I did cover it to protect it, but I had posted the second pic to show the plaster removed to studs.

Removing plaster has nothing on this stuff. Shout out to the guy who installed this in 1946, holy cow it wants to stay.

Aquasure had a 10% off sale, so I ordered a reverse osmosis system. Got it installed it this afternoon. It's recommended to let it cycle once and drain the first tank before drinking, so I'll have to test it out tomorrow morning or maybe later tonight. This R.O. system has leak detection built in, so if it detects a leak it will shut off and won't flood the cabinets.

Only downside is the amount of space it takes up under the kitchen sink with the oversized Insinkerator garbage disposal.

I'm also using a Halo 5 whole house water filter/conditioner, an Aquasure 48k grain softener, and extra wall mounted sediment and carbon filters. Adam Sandler from the Waterboy would be proud.

    I didn't do anything, but...

Was 10F here this morning and a roofing crew was installing ashpalt shingles one street over. Can't imagine doing that in those temps.

Wow - I have one 5-micron filter just after the pressure tank and that's it.

My girlfriend's uncle works for an industrial water management company and tested the chemicals/metals and such in my well water for me. He said it's one of the best well water samples he's seen, hardness was only 55. Only thing a little off was sodium. He thought the well being so close to the road may have something to do with it being higher than what he typically sees in this area (runoff from road salt).

I thought you were talking about me until I saw your location. I had a patch job done around my chimney this morning at about 25 degrees.
    IMG_20220108_131409977.jpg

Fix and flippers just put new shingles on top of rotten decking that was due to old flashing around the chimney. Now its got 24" of new decking on either side of the chimney. New shingles are an exact match so you cant even tell it was patched.
