Here are the instructions I received from Joying, but keep in mind i just bought my headunit, so its the Android 10 version.

Here is the headunit i just purchased on Amazon

    JOYING Android 10 Car Stereo Octa Core 9 Inch Head Unit 1280 x 720 Compatible with Toyota Corolla 2017-2018 & Toyota Tacoma 2016-2021,4GB RAM+64GB ROM Support Android Auto/Carlink//5G WiFi/Plug & Play https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KD68BZT

    Here is the upgrade link.
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ALKIv59cLyg5H66ioGXLP_EhidSms8ba/view?usp=sharing
    Upgrade steps:
    1. Download and unzip this file from your computer
    2. Copy all files in the unzipped folder to your USB drive, please format your USB drive on your computer first
    3. Insert the USB drive to the unit
    4. It will update automatically
    5. Re-select back to the previous canbus protocol after the upgrade.

I remember someone posting about the next song buttons being flipped around when using apple CarPlay….did this issue ever get resolved?

everything works as it should except the next/previous buttons are backwards.

For anyone that bought the idatalink sto2 adapters to get the factory GPS to work with the head unit, could someone point me in the right direction to get the other adapter you need to get that harness to work.

I read somewhere that it was an SMA to SMB adapter? Is that correct
Not sure what one needs to be male and female?

When I set this up, it prompted me to set a screen to auto start. I set up Google Maps. Who knows how to reset that, or turn that off?

    I'm strictly using CarPlay.

Question. Did any of you connect add a fuse to the back of the unit? Is it a good idea?
    Thanks.
