Just read about Ford dealers charging over MRSP on the new truck. Ford does not condone this practice and is considering stopping allotments of the pickup truck to the offending dealers. Legally the MFG. cannot stop the practice. Also new buyers must keep the truck for a year before flipping.

Legally, dealers are distributors. The manufacturer can impose regulations to their distributors.

Generally, any break in regulations can result in restricted supply to that distributor.

Regarding the "new buyer" thing. The manufacturer has no say as to what the consumer does with the product after purchase. The product is not within the manufacturer's control after it is purchased.

I don’t know how that’s possible, I haven’t seen any new vehicles at the ford dealerships around here. It is unbelievable what they are asking for used f150’s though

Ford made buyers of the new GT sign an agreement they wouldn't sell the car for two years. They went after the few people that did.

    Sure, that is legal.

Reason, the buyer signed a CONTRACT with Ford.

Wow. Just like everyone else with a popular model of something. The animals.

Of course not. That would sully their reputation. (Bet they really don't care).

'considering' is a vague term meaning 'I'll never really cut off a high volume dealer. But I may cut off a low volume place to shift some more product to the high one'.

Well, a bit of accurate info.

And a little piece of cow pie to counter act the accurate info above. Unless the buyer signs a specialty contract to do so. For a collectible like the GT, maybe. But only a tool would sign such for a plebian PU. And why would any dealer or corporate even care on a mass produced piece?

I dunno what your news source is, but I'd rank it right up there with the political focused media. They all lie. But leave an occasional nugget of truth in place to make the whole thing smell better.

I mean it makes sense - if you have 10 mil and want to make a 10% return just buy a bunch of GT’s.

Seems like it would encourage owners with a shitty truck to light it on fire and push it off a cliff.

Which new truck are you talking about, the V8 Raptor?

Oh, you are probably talking about the Lightning EV.

I was thinking maybe the Maverick those seem popular. Or the F150 Tremor I see those are marked up. The Bronco seems to still be Ford's vehicle with the most interest from the public, and selling for the most over MSRP.

I'm surprised to see Ford doing this on trucks. I know they did something similar on the Ford GT. You had to apply to purchase one and then you couldn't resell for 1 year or face a fine and a ban from buying another one. Ferrari does something similar on their special editions.

I don't know why anyone wants an electric truck when ice trucks are at the pinnacle of their inception, and gas continues to flow. Ford will most likely be building this truck until Ford no longer builds trucks. Over paying for a new EV truck currently makes zero sense for the consumer.

The no sale thing could make sense if Ford needs to recall, or mandate that their product has to be returned to the manufacturer. For what ever reason. It is a new and unproven EV platform.

Nobody. Ford tried that with Ford GT buyers by making them sign a contract saying they couldn’t flip it. But people still flipped them, ford tried to sue but lost the court cases

Its not only Ford. A Toyota dealer finally got a Tacoma I wanted and was going to tack another 6k on top of the MSRP. There was a Ford dealer here in CA that got caught having employees and family members factory ordering trucks then when the trucks came in the order would be cancelled, the trucks put on the lot with 5-8k over MSRP. They were giving them like 500.00 to do this

Ford can legally stop the transfer of ownership according to the information I read. If they try to flip the truck. This is for the Lightning pickup, sorry I wasn't clear enough.
