I just stumbled on a dealer that received an allocation today that wasn't reserved by anyone else, but I am a bit confused if it's legit.

In the dealers system it showed a build date of 12/22, but it only showed up today. The last 6 digits of the VIN are all numbers, starting with 47. They got three total allocations with the other two builds showing a Feb build date.

Is something odd that it only just showed up in the dealerships system today, even though the build date is past due? It doesn't show as shipped in their system. Regardless, I reserved it but I am a bit concerned that it's 'lost' in the build queue or something. Has anyone else had a similar scenario?

Pretty certain that's week 47 of 2021. As far as I can tell, the week 47s are about to be built (based in large part on info in the 47 pages of this thread). As far as I can tell, no Pros have been built yet.

Thanks. I should have specified that this is a TRD OR. I guess it would make sense if production across the board has slipped several weeks.

Agreed. The stuff they're using is the oily type. I forget the name but when I looked it up the stuff seemed legit and is apparently popular in Europe.
Still, it sucks that dealers are putting us in this position. I'd much rather get rustproofing done at a shop I trust. One more reason the crooked dealership model of doing business sucks (and I've worked for a couple).

No, better jump on it while you can. Mine was supposed to be built last week of September but wasn’t built until October 23rd. Think chip shortage and other part shortages, transport problems. Dealer isn’t lying.

Dealership called me, said they had a allocation very close to my truck except for the color its black and my allocation is Lunar rock. I've been on the list almost a year, he said he would call toyota to see if they could change the color on the allocation.. Has anyone had that happen, any insight on the chances of toyota changing the color for me?

Color is a change that can be made during that process but not 100% guaranteed. Stay in close touch with your dealer.

I ordered mine in June 2021 and am finally picking it up this week! It's a 2022 Limited Nightshade in magnetic gray. Initially it was going to be a 2021 arriving in August but the wrong color arrived. The one I am picking up was supposed to be white but my dealership traded with another dealership for my color.

@Cricket-0 , I agree with @remichex and that's what I was told by 2 different dealers. It's possible to change the allocation color - but, like the allocation itself, it's "a request" and not guaranteed to go through.

What’s your build? That’s a long time to wait for anything other than a Pro. Sound like you may need to throw lines out to lots of dealers. I called about 13 or so and narrowed down to 4 with fair pricing - quadruples your chance of someone getting what you want as it’s all randomized anyways.

Just want to also note that Cedar Park Toyota of Texas got an Army Green TRD Off Road 4x4 DCSB with Tech and Headlights in their allocation on the 7th. They’re MSRP + 695 for Tint, so fair. Someone jump on that. May be gone.

It may still be there - that was my dream build until my other dealer got a Trail Edition too…

So based on that I’m confused. Because mine looks like this (some letters/digits omitted):

    47X03X

so how would this have been scheduled to build the 47th week, which would’ve been October? Unless the Trail Editions slipped that far…

C4 sliders, TRD CAI, Spod source LT, CBI covert, 6112/5160's, OME heavy leafs, Wheeler's super bumps with flip kit, RCI engine skid, R4T lower control arm skids, SOS Concepts gas tank skid, Rago bed stiffeners, 255/85/16 ST Maxx, MESO stuff, AJT stuff, Martin cab rack, rough country 40" single row bar, Rigid 30" SAE light bar, SDHQ ditch brackets, Rigid SR-M ditch lights with amber covers, AVS hood thingy and door thingys, Bulletpoint phone and tablet mount, Taco Vinyl raptor lights, Tacoma Lifestyle sequential turn signals, Tufskinz door sill protectors, and a few other knick knacks.
I must have looked through Tacoma inventory at 12 dealerships Friday morning. Just happened to find my MGM Pro on one's site that was incoming and somehow not yet spoken for. So, I called and gave my deposit. Temp VIN shows 04 before the last 4 digits/letters so I'm assuming build week 4 which is like in 17 days. Hoping to get it first or second week in Feb.

Kinda pricey for tint. Wonder if all windows will be tinted including entire front windshield or just tint to match front windows. I didn’t pay close to that for full ceramic 5% all the way around and 50% on windshield

At least in my region, that is a stellar deal. The other 9 dealers I called were anywhere from 1-5k markup, sometimes with no actual products included in that, just straight adjustment…I think a lot of people wish they could get a deal like that based on reading these threads for a month. Some were doing thousands markup on AG.

But I agree, under normal circumstances that’s not great pricing for tint. However at least you’re getting something out of it.
