That's how mine is still luckily
Facebook group called SMS Overland is planning some overland thing in 2023 that's supposed to span 500-800 miles in eastern Missouri that I might go to. I'm not really an overlanding person but doing easy offroad stuff sounds kinda nice. Would be cool to meet some of the Wisconsin crew there

Sounds pretty cool! I will have to look into this.

I want to start planning for a trip west in 2023, so that might interfere.

I want to hit some trails in MO sometime, too. It's close enough to do in a 3 day weekend. Could be an opportunity for the Midwest peeps to finally meet up.

Me and @CygnusX191 have been talking about exploring Mark Twain for a little bit now. If you want to wheel there's Moonlight, Pruitt Mountain, Flat Nasty and SMORR. Flat Nasty is definitely my favorite in Missouri so far. Haven't been to SMORR yet

I'm thinking the 2023 ROCKtober meet up in MOAB (if it's still a thing by then)
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rocktober-therapy-the-moab-gathering.552428/
I'd consider a trip to MO.

There's a guy on 4runners.com who has been hitting the Mark Twain hard for a few years. It looks like fun. We have talked about doing something there a few times.

That Rocktober thing sounds fun. But, I'm curious how crowded the trails would be. I suppose that could be part of the fun! At least there would be enough people around that nobody would have to count on me for spotting.

I'm not too too far from it really. Probably 3-4 hours. Could hit it once a month maybe. I was down there last year or the year before but it was a shit show. Went with a code of dudes that are freaking clowns
I'm kinda curious too. Winter mix gas probably?

Got somebody on the Colorado site in a dither because I asked some open ended questions about "places" as I was starting to plan a trip for this coming summer. Seemed like some sort of a chest thumping and mines bigger than yours sort a thing. Other thread same question and folks came through. Learned not to ask suspension questions on the 2nd gen thread... oh my! I will learn about suspension when I can talk to some people over a beer or two and everyone is cool with "dumb" questions... I have three, week plus trips in the planning stages for this year... Arkansas, Kentucky and Colorado. If anyone here is interested I can get you an itinerary for the Colorado and Kentucky trips. Arkansas has been harder to research and I haven't had time lately to work on the planning. Open to input from actual miles on the ground!

I am up north in Ashland.

I have just found/rediscovered this thread. Hoping to get something going so I can meet like minded Taco folk that I can actually learn from. The new own/manager at our local ski hill (Ashwabay) is a recent transplant from Moab and ran a fab shop there. Toyota guy... I don't ski much when I take the kids now...

Fall of '23 might be a good time to shoot for. I'm interested.

I'm 3-4 hours from the places I go up here. Pretty much every other weekend from May until October I'm a few hours from home. Rising fuel prices are going to cramp my style.

I definitely have no interest in wheeling with idiots. :D Hopefully the clown crew could be left out if we plan something down there. I always worry that some reckless dipshits could show up at our outings up here. So far I've been lucky! :)

This-just a $50 per paycheck would open up some fun money for the truck...

Oh there will be some mods all right
On a mixed use tank (lots of remote starts, to work and back, store and back, and some highway) about 20. On a road trip if I set the cruise at 61 I get about 26.5. As soon as I bump the speed to 71 or above I get 23. So compared to many other modern cars it's not great but compared to the tundra it's fantastic, especially since the majority of my road trips are done on 55 mph roads where I get the best gas mileage.

Where are you located? Last contact with you, you mentioned three lakes-assuming Eagle River area?

I believe there's a few guys around here with 2nd gens. Should be some willing to BS about suspension options. Feel free to throw questions out in this thread. We're pretty laid back. :) I had a 2nd gen as well, and looked into suspension while I had it.

Ashland is beautiful! I've had a ton of fun up there, camping, fishing, and exploring. We had a great time in Bayfield in October, and ran the Northern section of the?T.W.A.T.

Maybe something in the Clam Lake area would be good. The Day Lake Flowage has great big campsites. Plus, there's some smaller lakes with campgrounds in the area.

    So. Many. Stickers.
The good news is, our main STL Wheeling crew have a great mix of sensibility, experience, comedy, helping handedness, and a "were not afraid to say something dumb" attitude :D

The aforementioned dummies run a FB page called "STL Toyota Off Road" and it's..... Just a sheaf of liability suits waiting to happen. We avoid them lol.

Mark Twain is..... Yuge..... Half the state is covered by it.

Also need to go out west, but life, time, and funds aren't allowing that to happen. Would love to just go on a multi-week explore. Nothing too crazy from a wheeling perspective, but I don't want no Hyundai full of tourists showing up either

What he said, ask away. I don't have a 2nd gen anymore but I still remember a whole bunch of info about them. Still remember exactly what was on mine suspension wise :D

We're smart idiots. Couple of us like to do some shit (I'm one of them :anonymous:) but we never intentionally put anyone in harms way and we try to avoid damage as much as possible. Kinda hard sometimes because of how tight some of these trails are
