Loss MPG with Mobil 1

I recall seeing someone mention that they lost MPG when the went to mobil 1.. I just changed the other week, and noticed that the fist tank went down as well..

Is this happening to anyone else? Just installed the Afe yesterday so we will see what happens..

 

Are we talking about a big loss? or just a few mpg?

 

Mine went up 2 mpg with Mobil 1

 

I will be doing my second oil change when I get back to Texas on Tuesday. I am going to Mobil 1 just like I did with my 2.7L engine. Can't say I saw any change in MPG with that one, but we will see...

 

Were you driving your usual routes? Did you change your style of driving at all during that tank. Run a few more tanks than compare the #'s. Average gas milage cannot be determined off one tank IMO.

 

yea.. will keep on doing some more comparisons.. Was about 1 to 1.5 miles per gal.. Just wondering if others had any similar results.

 

For my first 5000 miles I averaged 19.3 mpg. Thats city and highway. Mainly back and forth to work.

I changed to Mobil 1 synthetic today.

My next 5000 miles should be the same style driving but only a different season. Winter. We will see which way my mileage goes...up or down........

don't think mine changed at all, but my truck is pretty well broken in. it also might have had syn in it when i bought it.

 

I got a 1 mpg increase with mobil 1 in my 2007 4Runner.

 

not getting my hopes up, I'm satisfied with 19.3, but a couple more would be sweet, just no decrease I hope....

 

good deal Chris, doesn't really make sense to decrease to me anyway. As long as all other conditions are similar......with winter, I do have more gas consumption with warming up and scraping windows etc. So I will have to check next year during the same season to get a similar comparison I guess.

 

same here. being that its getting pretty damn cold now...........i think mpg's will fluctuate a hair,but it'll be relatively the same..............a bit better with synthetic though.

 

cold air is denser air, MAF sees more volume going in the engine, ECU says "I can put more fuel in", mileage goes down a tad?

There's no way you're going to see a decrease using a synthetic unless you're using the incorrect weight.

 

Possibly, but most likely my guess is that it would be the winter fuel blend.

 

went with the recommended 5w30 so should be good....
