Wisconsin Tacomas and bad financial advice

I figured you guys wouldn't hang out with reckless types. I know you guys like to make your truck kiss trees, or take them swimming sometimes, but I also know you're not trying to trash them or get yourselves hurt.

 

No money tree just the same job for almost 22 years and the same woman going on 21 years.
I convinced my wife that a new 4Runner would be a great choice as her next new vehicle. Now I have a Tacoma and 4Runner!

I smoked 3 packs a day. In January 2015 I got walking pneumonia. Haven’t smoked a cig since. (A few cigars) lol. I told my wife with the money I saved from not smoking I’m buying a new Truck. She laughed and said I’ll go back to smoking and im not buying a new Tacoma. February 2015…….
I bought a new 2015 Prerunner 2wd and 2 years later I traded it on a 2017 TRD Sport 4wd. 4 years later I bought the new 2021 manual.

My friends always said if I quit smoking I can buy a new Corvette!

Marlboro light 100’s when I quit were $4.85 a pack.
Now? $10.45

 

I actually try to avoid the trees

I smoke American spirits and they're $10.78 after tax right now. I used to be a 4 pack a day smoker, I was 19 or 20 at the time and I also went through 2 or 3 cans of chew a day also . 32 now and I go through a pack once a day or every other day depending on my mood. And I quit chewing about 2 or 3 years ago

I couldn’t wait for work trips to Missouri for cheap smokes. $26 cartons of Pallmall or $32 cartons of Marlboro light special blends at Dirt Cheap Cigarettes and beer store.

Illinois cigarette tax was crazy. Can’t imagine what it is now. I saw $15.90 for Marlboros near Wrigley Field Chicago in August.

Holy crap! I quit when Marlboros went over $3 a pack.

 

Had a 99 4runner. Kind of a dream buy, except that it was hopelessly gutless. Got stolen before I could trade it in... worked in my favor except for all the personal stuff I lost. Got a call from the county sheriff about 9 months later, asking if I owned a 99 4runner. Told them the insurance company did now. They found the shell in a drug raid. Nothing left.

 

Back when I managed a C store we went through training to watch for people buying cheap cartons to haul back across the river to make a few bucks.

We didn't personally care, but when the cops ran a sting..... We got good at catching them lol

 

That's because chicagoland. Everything is higher up there. I'm in Southern Illinois. I'm about an hour from st. Louis now since I moved back in April. Marlboros around $9 I think. Honestly don't know since I don't smoke them and won't because they taste weird to me now and I would smoke waaaaaay more if I did. We Southern Illinoisians HATE Northern Illinois

 

Never was a smoker. Both parents smoked and couldn't stand the smell of it.
My money tree is called overtime. Wife doesn't say a thing about anything I buy with OT money.

 

I won big on powerball last week and this is how I spent my windfall...

That "I want a smoke" feeling will never go away, just remember when that thought stars to creep into your brain that I'm not giving in.

 

It's weird how it just pops in your head. I sometimes get in the car and get the urge to fire one up. Or, when someone else lights one. The pipe and cigars are a nice treat occasionally. I haven't touched a cigarette since I quit.

 

I’m usually in Carbondale/Marion area( Carterville) twice a year. My parents had a house/farm to retire on. Sadly the property was sold almost 25 Years ago. I miss Walking out the back door and shooting the .22 or handguns at our backyard shooting range. Man I want to hit the lottery and buy a 125-150 acre farm with a pole barn and a few stocked ponds.

 

Yep I bought 2 cartons every 2-3 weeks I went down. You are allowed 2 cartons 1.5 lt booze and 2 cases of beer to cross the illinois/Missouri border

 

Carbondale and marion are about 2 1/2 hours away from me

 

All this talk about 2nd gens, now I need to know what not to screw up on 3rd gens.
I’m picking up a ‘19, but just for a week.. vacation rental!
