    Best welder I’ve ever seen was pushing 70yo. He had a shake from inhaling rod fumes or maybe just age that allowed him to lay down the prettiest of beads. Bad thing is he cut with the same fashion…. They ended up getting him a sweet plasma cutter and an 8’ straight edge. Problem solved.

    Tried a different setup with the aluminum last night. Went to a standard lense and #7 cup. Would have gone smaller, but didn't have any for a that style. As well as lowered the gas flow. It worked out far better than everything in the past. Especially since I don't have any type of adjustments other than "Aluminum".

    I picked up a Hobart Handler 190 with the SpoolRunner 100 aluminum gun a little over a year ago, it's not TIG but man is it nice and easy aluminum welding. I TIG with a AHP AlphaTIG last couple years.

    I have never MIG welded aluminum. Just recently MIG welded for my first time, on some cold rolled steel.

    Got any pictures of aluminum projects that you've welded?

    It did. Had a lot of physics issues.

    Still cool. Laminar flow, and resistance were against the project. I think there may have been a valve to head clearance issue as well. Could have been really neat.

    Hey Guys, maybe help me to think this out:

    Matt at VFTuner is having stumbling issues with his kit during quick throttle position changes. I noticed that on the 2nd Gen Taco, the MAF is very near the TB, but on the 2020, the MAF is at the airbox, and this got me thinking:

    On the 3rd gen with Turbo System, there is a LOT of capacity for storing compressed air, between the MAF and Manifold, and that air is being compressed (densified), travels a long way (pressure drops, less dense), heated (less dense), cooled (more dense) plus the pulses/variation caused by changing TB position and varying turbo push, due to wastegate chasing to maintain a constant, with the wastegate sensor directly at the turbos.

    All this heating and cooling has a considerable affect on density and volume of air; as the charge air temperature changes substantially from turbo outlet to manifold.

    Could the stumbling be a matter of the MAF being so distant from the throttle body, creating a "Lag" that causes the ECM to react too soon, instead of tracking actual manifold "flow". Sort of the opposite of having the O2 sensor too far away from the exhaust ports.

    In your experience, is the MAF typically near the TB, on Turbo engines or are they always positioned to measure ambient intake air, not turbo compressed and cooled air?

    Where is the MAF located on 2nd gen's with turbo?

    I acknowledge that this would not explain why 2017 trucks have no issue, but on its own this seems to make sense, to my less experienced mind. Interested win what others think.

    Without more information, it also sounds like it could be transient throttle issues as well as turbulence across the MAF.

    A lot of the 1GR gents have the MAF located before the throttle body, but not too close to it. Flow straighteners are also there to help reduce the turbulence.

    This is just one truck, but also a reference for location.

    4. For those that have not perused through @BassAckwards ' thread.

    Finished a few full welds yesterday, as well as fully finished fusing in the v-band merge.

    For my other friend's build, we finished the down-pipe to under-cab bend location and v-band welds. Need to grab a picture or so of that. For his, once we sort out getting the oil pan drain fitting installed, then his will be ready for start-up.

    His will need the URD intake tube extended closer towards the center of the radiator. The down-pipe will then need to be connected to the catback. So close.
