Definitely too expensive. My 350k Virginia house in the i70 corridor of Colorado would probably be probably 800k. Ridiculous.

This is SO true. I did my EOBC at Ft Belvoir over the winter '86-87. One light snow fall shut down the whole post and the surrounding area for an entire day. Me and several other native New Englanders in my class were ROTFLOAO the whole day.

I live south of the Mason Dixon line in Beckley, WV. I have driven in snow my whole life though. I heard 3-5” of snow was predicted and I though “so what”. It was a bunch of people in two wheel drives and no snow experience that caused a lot of the problem.

Maybe in chains all around, but our stupid truck designers made it so we cant do that up front. He’s right, you’d get stuck and laughed at for trying it.

    not even with a lift?
Was hoping there’s some good chains out there that don’t protrude out too much to where they have clearance issues

there has to be a way
    The Tacoma is indestructible

it would be like a Tacoma commercial
Everyone would get a Tacoma after that

seen many videos of Tacos snow wheeling they always fit chains on somehow but usually lift, cut/trimmed fenders, bigger tires

no man just cruise on past playing music out the window inspiring people to follow then get off on the next exit

maybe even recover a semi truck
    Unless that needs diesel torque

Taco Tuesday 1, I took an exit in an attempt to use an alternate route. Ended up only traveling about 100 feet and almost got stuck and had to use 4lo with my locker to get out. And it took three tries to get out. I have a lot of experience in snow too.

Its not the body that is the issue up front, its the strut behind the wheels. Not enough room for a good set of real chains. A spacer might help, but a lift won’t.

Absolutely. I81 in VA may suck at times but I95 wins the suckfest hands down.

Short answer is no. Long answer is NO.

If this is a joke, lol. If this comment is serious, that’s extremely dangerous, illegal, and you will probably get stuck. Think of it like taking a Camry off roading in the desert to avoid a traffic jam. If that was also illegal.

Point of my post was to discourage driving on such a snow bank. Trying to provide a relatable scenario for someone who potentially has never even seen snow.

But to be fair, if you took that Camry off roading onto private property, that would be illegal

Lol fair enough. With a location of SoCal the safer bet was “never seen more than an inch of snow.”

Buy my point still stands. Driving in that snow bank is stupid and you will more than likely get stuck.

The lack of an accurate weather prediction was a huge contributor to the mess. I live in one of the rural counties close-ish to I-95 that received 12"+ of snow from this storm. We were without power from Monday morning until late Thursday night. It's Sunday and there are still folks without power. Fortunately we were prepared with a generator and propane, but many weren't due to the low amount of snow that was predicted the day before.

Many trying to blame VDOT, but don't realize that this snow was falling at close to 3-4" per hour. It would have been very difficult if not impossible to plow while keeping the always-congested I-95 corridor traffic flowing. It was nuts how fast it was coming down, and I believe it was why accidents caused the situation.
