    @xtremewlr

    There are times I want a 4th Gen 4R, mainly for the V8 and it being slightly more modern (and comfortable). Loved riding in yours.

    It is larger than my 3rd Gen, but not as roomy as an LC.

    I want an 80 but I have no need. Plus the amount of aftermarket for them would send me into financial ruin.

    It's good to see you have access to a selection of many 80s in CA. Before I bought my 100 for $3,500, some guy in the area would buy any rust-free local 80 series posted on CL over the phone as soon as the ad hit usually for more than the asking price so there would be no competition. Then he would clean them up and fix any issues and sell them somewhere up north for a nice profit. I think the only reason I wound up with an LX is he and some people around here are scared of AHC and didn't snap it up. Things sure have changed in the past two years.

    100 series is still an awesome vehicle for sure.

    But I'm more in the thought that maybe the vehicle is just really big for some? They're more expensive than 3G4Rs so that's already 2 reasons why someone would go 4R over a 100.

    Idk I could be wrong, just a theory.

    Quality A/T's, a small lift, and that should cover an 80 series for me.

    Well, they eat gas like a MOFO. They are heavy. Aftermarket enhancement parts are becoming more popular, but expensive. The only way to survive ownership is via Partsouq for most parts.

    There are problems caused by incorrect windshield installations, problems from not turning off the automatic tilt-away steering wheel, problems from door lock actuators. They need steering rack replacements and bushings. If you like to spend all of your spare time working on one, it may be a good fit. LOL.

    I've had a good time with it mostly because the Tacoma is one of the most perfect little trucks on wheels. So if I get too pissed off, I just take the Tacoma for a drive, and then I feel better.

    Natural habitat. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    If the 4th Gen T4R V8 is on the list, don't hesitate to look at the GX 470/460 platform. Love my GX, but you're right, it's really not that much bigger than the 3rd Gen T4R.

    I was originally looking for an 80 series, but couldn't find one in the PNW that wasn't trashed. The ones that were in decent condition were going for $25k+. I still keep an eye open for a "project" 80 series, but haven't any that fit the bill.

    While not as big as the 100, the GX has it's own set of problems too. I feel like I'm always fixing something. She's thirsty as well and gets roughly 10-13 mpg depending on if the tent is installed etc.

    Agreed on the Taco too. It's nice having a rig to run to get parts while the GX is under the knife. Also nice to have at least one vehicle that needs only basic maintenance like oil changes etc.
