Man this is so well done! This is exactly what I'm wanting to do to my 4.0 auto. Do you have a write up on how to do it with the single stick? Or was it cut a hole for the new shifter and then plug and play for the fj case?

cut, chop, bend, weld, test, repeat until your liking. There is no "plug and play" shifter fitment for these rigs.

No no the shifter plug and play but the transfer case. Like you said I'll have to cut, bend and weld to get the shifter were I want it but does the case bolt right up? I can't find a detailed write up on the single stick

Yes the case has same bolt pattern for auto FJ to auto taco. To swap to manual taco you need to swap the input shafts on the auto FJ case.

Those are helpful thank you! Beside cutting for the lever you only had to cut the exhaust b/c you're doing the 4x4 conversion. Since mine is already 4x4 all I'll have to do is cut for the lever? Sorry for the dumb questions my brain is polished

The stock tcase system seems finicky. To engage 4H, it prefers to be moving at a decent speed in lower gear, and under deceleration

Which is bad because if you find yourself having to use it from a standstill, it might just not engage

Does converting to a manual tcase solve this? I imagine it would

The 4h system is still synchromeshed and shifts much easier if moving at a low speed under no load
