2022 Trail Edition Owners Thread

Starting this as I didn’t see anything like it and I’d like to get some centralized information going about the Trail Edition as allocations get assigned and building begins.

For those who don’t know what the Trail Edition is, it’s technically a package built on the SR5 trim level. Some details:

• Originally launched in ‘21, the ‘22 Trail edition is completely different
• It is available in Lunar Rock, Army Green, White, and Black
• The package adds $3765 to the price of an SR5 DCSB 4x4 (only available configuration)
• Includes:
  • 1.1” front lift and “0.5 rear lift
  • 2 Bed Lock Boxes (Removable)
  • Special tan stitching for the black seats
  • 16” bronze wheels modeled off the TRD Pro wheels
  • Heritage Toyota Grille with Bronze Lettering
  • Trail Badge on tailgate and black emblems
  • Skid plate from the TRD OR
  • 120V Bed Plug
  • Goodyear A/T tires
  • Rear Locking Differential
  • All-weather floor mats

Feel free to post your purchase price, options it has, build date, and keep us updated as the process happens. I’ll start:

1-7: dealer calls and says they got an allocation for an:

Army Green Trail Edition with Technology Package. Got to remove any port options I want. MSRP + $619 Dealer Package (Seat and Paint protectant) + free tint

Dealer says build date of 1-19 but the temporary VIN says “47” for build date meaning it must’ve been delayed?

Anyone else received their allocation or confirmed theirs? Any insight?

 

I am on the same boat as you. 12/17/2021 Dealer stated for an Army Green Trail Edition with some upgrades. On 01/07/2022 Dealer texted and said vehicle was delayed with a new date 01/22/2022.

 

that’s your build date, 1-22? And before that it was 12-17, or that’s when you got your confirmed allocation at the dealer?

 

12/17/2021 allocation date. Dealer said should be here by 01/10/2022 date was changed to 01/22/2022.

 

Sorry to hear you got delayed. That lines up with mine of 1-19, they must be building the Trails that week. However mine just got allocated so I just assumed this was the original build window.

What packages did you have?


Edit: saw you said 1-22 arrival. So I guess they’re getting built generally this month. Has your VIN changed from temporary yet?

 

The vin has not changed as of yet. Just keeping my fingers crossed. The technology package and Parking Sonar Premium Audio Touchscreen with Navigation and 619.00 dealer package for paint and interior 319.00 for tires protection and 199.00 for window tinting

 

Build date for my Black trail was 12/20. I was told a couple days ago by the dealership that it would be delivered between 1/11 and 1/14. We shall see!

 

That’s awesome I am hoping that it will get here before that date. Will keep you posted. I stumbled here looking to see if anyone else was on the same boat with their Trail Edition, so thank you for posting. I’m not so young anymore so it takes me a while to keep up with the rest. Lol

Yeah let’s get this thread some traction, I wanted to start a main thread as the Trail Edition for ‘22 is such a unique subset of Tacomas with its own unique issues on the acquisition front. Eventually hoping this thread will morph into a happy delivery photo thread!

 

I placed my order back in July, Confirmed pricing in October and have been waiting for an allocation since. Lunar rock trail is what I ordered.

 

Do you have lines out at multiple dealers? I had basically deemed it a unicorn and moved on to trying to get a TRD OR but my main dealer happened to get one. I’d spread your chances out if possible. The good news is I don’t think you’ve missed the boat, sounds like allocation have just started in December. No one I know of in Central Texas had gotten one before now

 

Put $500 down for an allocation back in August. ‘22 LR TE w/ tech pack. Got a call in late November that it was scheduled to be built early December. Received temp vin and the week values were “48”. Email came in second week of December that it had been delayed to a build date of 1/6/22. Was actually built on the 6th. Temp vin disappeared and got a call from my dealer. Thinks delivery should be last week of January/first week of February.

Anyone have an earlier delivery date (estimate) than that for a Trail?

EDIT: Shows on dealer website today that estimated delivery is 1/28/22 - 2/2/22.

 

That’s awesome! You’re the earliest build date I’ve seen so far. My build week was technically “47” based on my VIN but sounds like we all got pushed back. Super strange how my dealer just got their allocation even though it was scheduled so far back…

I'm looking at a 1/31 build date on my Army Green. Should be here around the end of Feb.

I was looking at regular SR5s but dealers near me were tacking on ADM of 3500-5000. Found a dealer an hour away who isn't doing that and ended up putting a deposit down. The TE at this dealer will cost less than what the others were charging for the standard SR5.

 

That's a good price, sounds like MSRP. Yeah, that's wild! It pays, literally, to go shop as many dealers as possible. Glad that worked out for you!
