Access Cab Storage Organization

I recently got the dewalt boxes to help with packing for a recent 4,000mi trip. The perfect height match is freaking stellar. Much easier packing than my old tool bag.

 

@SJ4224 Here's the Amazon link for the Sterlite 16 Quart Drawer. They want 42 bucks for it. I bought mine from my local Ace Hardware for $12 and used it behind the passenger seat. It's 17"L x 14-3/8"W x 6-7/8"H

Here's the one I got for behind the driver's seat - it's 15.71“Lx11.77"Wx6.5"H so it's a couple of inches narrower and lets me move the seat back more. I replaced the Sterlite on the passenger's side with it after riding shotgun up to Lassen and realizing some more legroom would be nice.

Just in case this helps anyone, it was pretty easy to mod the DeWalt box for the compressor. Using some vinyl gloves (always handy) and my DMM to keep it in place as a kit:

 

This project has been long-overdue. Finally got to it. Thanks to all the great ideas on this thread. The deck fits snugly, it probably has an allowance of less than ¼" at some corners.

Deck measurements:
•Driver side depth: 29½" (depends on driver's seat setting while driving)

•Passenger side depth: 25¾" (set the passenger seat as far back as possible while still allowing toolbox to slide out)

•Width: 52" (leaves about ¼" space from door cup holders on each side)

Materials:
•½" plywood
•Carpet adhesive (paste type, in tub)
•Carpet (cheapest one at HomeDepot)
•Staples (10mm)

 

That turned out great!

 

Thanks. I wonder what the max. weight load is. I tried sitting on it, there's zero flex. I'm 180 lbs.

 

Awesome job, the plastic cases are the weakest, the 1/2" plywood will last as long as the truck.

 

Gave it a shot and it didn't work out. Ordered the crates on Amazon and they got here overnight. Tried on a 2021 SR AC that came with a rear seat delete. The boxes don't allow the seat to go all the way back and aren't tall enough to match the built-in cubbies. Love this idea, however, and I'll be searching for other OTC boxes or building my own out of ply.

 

@Hossmanq The DeWalt TSTAK II don't work with the Utility Package - the lids on the built in storage bins are too high. The DeWalts work with the jump seats though. Here's a list of various options I put together trying to find what would fit best with my AC. I went with the 20 Liter Drawer, but I had the jump seats (now removed).

Thanks for the tool box, I've been using a tall open top type of tool box for my scrapping tools but this will be much more secure and less conspicuous when someone walks near my truck in a parking lot.

 

Slip into Walmart or Dollar General and pick you up some "Rag Rugs" as I call them. Fold one up and put under the tool box. I have 4 of those rugs in my truck because you never know when you might need one.

I made a plywood shelf-



I painted it black then carpeted it in grey to kind of match the seats.

 

The short toolboxes that come with the decked storage system worked for my 2015 Toyota Tacoma access cab. I use two of them and the bedrug everyone else is using. The toolboxes are little short but I haven't had a problem putting groceries or anything else back there. Eventually I might put a sentry safe back there but I don't see the need yet. Everything lays flat. And this pic was taken with the seats all the way back. I took some measurements and it turns out the sentry safe is to thin to support the middle between the toolboxes. ( I don't really have a use for it anyways) I found a knee pad on Amazon that will fill the hole between the boxes and I plan on just using Velcro to keep it secure. Here's a link to the kneepad

I ended up buying a different knee pad then the one I listed, it's a little bit more expensive but it fits better because it's a little bit thicker.

It came today and here's some pictures of it all done. Iam super happy with it and I love how I can take it out of the truck and store it away easily. Seems strong enough to support a dog or heavy tools. Here's some pictures

New to TW forums.
I picked up a 2009 access cab back in early May. I refrained from jumping right in on the mods because i have seen and read about TONS of stuff done with tacomas. So i waited a bit before going at it.
Im a remodeling contractor and have done the passenger area mods to my tundra to suit the work world mainly. While removable, its a slight project if that space is ever needed for people.
So, thought since this tacoma will be more for personal and recreational use and maybe an occasional work use, i'd take some ideas from various threads here on the site and then some tweaks from the tundra build and make a jump seat "rebuild" project.
Its based on mainly the entire quick builds done in this thread with a couple tweaks.
I made my plywood deck in 2 sections after cutting the initial large layout from the plywood. So removing a couple screws and contents from 1 side would have a passenger seat in less than 2 minutes. I also make a quick bump cover and some leveling blocks to the lids so that the deck sits solid on the truck body components so that the drawer slide and the dewalt box are easily used/removed when the deck has a good amount of weight on it.
I also removed the flux capacitor and the useless jump seat center console and added a molle panel in its place. I used the factory bolt holes from the speaker to attach the molle panel. Think I'm going to add some longer screws to that tho to get some more separation from the truck back panel and the molle panel.
And can never go wrong with a flashlight mount.
