Too much stuff to deal with is right. I think we all tend to be too hard on ourselves. Everybody has a pet bad habit, and as bad we think it is, the habit usually serves a purpose until it’s not needed anymore. It’s true, some bad habits are more destructive than others, so Im not saying “yay crack-rock!” or anything like that…but cigs are cigs, meh.

Like @Thatbassguy says, you’ll stop when you are ready and when you want to. You’ll have a reason stronger than the urge. I think you’ll be able to tell when that time comes. You might need help to stop when you are ready, thats fine too.

When that time comes, sometimes talking to a doc about meds (for the other mental stuff that leads anyone to depend on cigs) might be exactly what’s needed to stay off them. And it might be cheaper than cigs in the end.

BTW, I realized doctors are less judgey than I expected. I picked up my tobacco habit well into adulthood (snus/dip), and hid that fact a long time whenever I’d go to see him. I didnt want to hear any lectures because I knew it was serving a purpose. But I finally fessed up to my doc a few years ago, and guess what….he hasn't said a thing about it. Nothing! Probably because he knows I got bigger shit to work through lol. Im sure he’ll bring it up when he sees a window.

This message brought to you by mid-life crisis (all you youngins stop laughing, this is serious shit! Lol ok fine, you can laugh) :D

Hopefully I'll be ready to quit this year. Quit cold turkey last time and was good for 9 months. Gonna try that again and stick to it for good this time

That's how I quit. Woke up one morning, crumpled up the pack I had and put it in the trash. That was it and that was over 10 years ago. Really wasn't that hard but yes, you have to want to quit and be mentally ready.

"allowed" this is still America. You are "allowed" however much you can afford/will fit in your trunk. Lol

    ECT. Use it.

I'll help ya. With a hammer.

Put your truck in a pond too, I'm good at that

I cut back to about 50% for 2 weeks before I quit. I'm not sure if that was better or worse. I tried to skip all of the more habitual ones, like after eating and getting in the car, etc.

It wasn't that hard to not smoke, but boy was I a crab-ass.

I’m in northwest Illinois. I quietly pop in every now and again to see what’s going on in here since I’m close to Wisconsin. When I saw your name I knew I had to check it out.
Decided now was as good of time as any to finally say hello to everyone

    Those are some solid shots.
Thanks for the reminder that I need to pick up a new set of snowshoes. Mine died last year and I neglected to get replacements at the start of the season.

I try and keep it in the garage for the winter... but man I love my truck and I put in heated seats (my CR-V doesn't have any of this stuff... (wife's does.)) heated mirrors, and other winter stuff so I just gotto go buzz around once in a while. When it rots I'll fix it as necessary and kick myself the whole time. All the smoking talk above reminds me that I had my time with alcohol and now its my truck. Definitely healthier...

Yeah, wife is bummed about missing the light show but she wants to try ice climbing on glaciers. I think she’s trying to get me killed.

You only have to worry if you notice new life insurance forms laying around with only your name on them.

Those are some sweet photos! At some point I would love to get some aurora shots. Maybe from the UP.
